Senior Geotechnical Engineer
Your responsibilities
Lead geotechnical tasks and deliver on a wide variety of projects, focusing on medium- to large-scale civil infrastructure projects primarily in the water and transportation markets. Projects will include conventional design-bid-build projects and design-build projects.
Mentor less experienced staff, leading projects in the development and implementation of geotechnical data collection programs, geotechnical analyses, report preparation, contract document development, and support during project construction.
Follow projects from concept development through the construction phase with our engineers.
Function as part of a large interdisciplinary design team, interact with clients, support business development efforts, and assist regional and global geotechnical leadership in advancing technical capabilities.
Technical skills
- Knowledge and experience in exploration methods, geotechnical instrumentation and monitoring, and laboratory testing for soil and rock
- Experience with design, construction, and inspection of dam and levee projects
- Design of typical geotechnical structures, such as shallow and deep foundations, earth retaining structures, embankment and cut slopes, and ground improvement
- Understanding of earthquake hazard evaluations, including liquefaction assessments, site-specific ground response analyses, and development of design spectra
- Preparation of technical reports
- Familiarity with computer programs for geotechnical analyses, such as SETTLE3D, LPILE, SLIDE or SLOPE, MATHCAD, FB-Multipier, PLAXIS, and FLAC
- Preparation of design drawings and specifications
Requirements
- B.S. Degree in Civil Engineering
- M.S./Ph.D. in Geotechnical Engineering
- 15 years of geotechnical consulting experience with a focus on heavy infrastructure projects
- PE license
- 10+ years of geotechnical design experience in the dams market (preferred)
Pay
The base salary range for this position is $155,600.00 to $210,000.00. Individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
