Senior Geotechnical Engineer
Your responsibilities
Lead geotechnical tasks and deliver projects for a variety of medium- to large-scale civil infrastructure projects, primarily in the water and transportation markets. Projects will include conventional design-bid-build projects and design-build projects.
Mentor less experienced staff, develop and implement geotechnical data collection programs, conduct geotechnical analyses, prepare reports, develop contract documents, and provide support during project construction.
Follow projects from concept development through construction with our engineers, function as part of an interdisciplinary design team, interact with clients, support business development efforts, and assist in advancing the technical capabilities of the regional and global geotechnical group.
Technical skills
- Knowledge and experience in exploration methods, geotechnical instrumentation and monitoring, and laboratory testing for soil and rock
- Experience with design, construction, and inspection of dam and levee projects
- Design of typical geotechnical structures such as shallow and deep foundations, earth retaining structures, embankment and cut slopes, and ground improvement
- An understanding of earthquake hazard evaluations, including liquefaction assessments, site-specific ground response analyses, and development of design spectra
- Familiarity with computer programs for geotechnical analyses such as SETTLE3D, LPILE, SLIDE or SLOPE, MATHCAD, FB-Multipier, PLAXIS, and FLAC
- Preparation of technical reports
- Preparation of design drawings and specifications
Qualifications
- B.S. Degree in Civil Engineering
- M.S./Ph.D. in Geotechnical Engineering
- 15 years of geotechnical consulting experience with a focus on design-build transportation projects
- PE license
- 10+ years of geotechnical design experience in the dams market (preferred)
Pay
The base salary range for this position is $133,000.00 to $210,000.00. Individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
