Senior Geotechnical Engineer
What You Will Do
GFT is seeking a Senior Geotechnical Engineer to join our Geotechnical team in Boston, MA! This role follows a hybrid work model, requiring regular attendance at our Boston office.
What You’ll Be Challenged To Do
- Lead geotechnical analysis and design efforts for various projects and facilities including, but not limited to, shallow and deep foundations, retaining structures, tieback anchors, soil nails, slope stability design and/or stabilization.
- Prepare written reports and documentation, geotechnical correspondence, design and construction drawings and specifications.
- Plan subsurface explorations and laboratory testing investigations.
- Develop proposals and participate in other business development activities.
- Aid senior staff in managing client relationships, including business and new client development to expand the breadth of our existing services.
Education | Experience
- Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering is required.
- Professional Engineer (P.E.) license in Massachusetts.
- 10-15 years of geotechnical experience with an emphasis in design and development of geotechnical deliverables including investigation and design reports, drawings, and specifications.
- Experience preparing MassDOT reports and design documents for roadway, bridge, retaining wall, and related infrastructure, along with similar experience with other local agencies including: MBTA, Massport, CTDOT, RIDOT and MaineDOT.
- Experience in slope stability analysis, shallow and deep foundation design including axial and lateral capacity, retaining structure design, settlement, etc.
- Experience with Microsoft Office Suite, gINT, APILE, LPILE, GRLWEAP, SHAFT, and Slope/W (or similar).
- Strong analytical and report writing skills.
- Strong verbal communication skills and ability to work independently and within a team environment.
- Strong leadership ability and personal initiative.
- Must have current Driver’s License.
