About the Role

Delta Oaks Group is seeking an experienced geotechnical engineer to perform a variety of technical evaluations, project management, administrative support, and client-facing services. This position requires 10 to 15 years of experience in geotechnical or a related engineering field, with expertise in deep and shallow foundations, laboratory soil analyses, and technical report issuance under limited supervision. The ideal candidate will independently manage complex investigations, develop geotechnical recommendations, mentor junior staff, and support business development efforts.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate with geotechnical drilling subcontractors to complete field investigations.
  • Perform soil/rock classifications and laboratory analysis for geotechnical engineering across commercial, telecommunications, and renewable energy markets.
  • Conduct field resistivity testing, foundation installation monitoring, hand auger and dynamic cone penetrometer testing, and field logging of soils.
  • Complete geotechnical engineering calculations for foundation capacity, pavement design, earth retention systems, and other applications.
  • Consult with internal and external disciplines during analysis and report preparation.
  • Prepare, compile, and review technical reports and supporting documents.
  • Provide technical support and mentorship to junior and mid-level engineers and field staff.
  • Manage workload to meet project deadlines and coordinate subcontractors (e.g., drillers, utility locators).
  • Act as a technical advisor and trusted resource for clients, participating in meetings, site walks, and presentations.
  • Review calculations, reports, and field logs prepared by others.
  • Support training initiatives and help develop best practices.
  • Perform cross-over duties in Civil/A&E, Environmental, and Structural Departments as needed.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science in Civil/Geotechnical Engineering from an ABET-accredited institution; M.S. in Geotechnical Engineering or related field is a plus.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) registration is required.
  • 10 to 15 years of experience in geotechnical engineering, with expertise in deep and shallow foundations.
  • Experience with geotechnical analysis programs (e.g., Shaft, BoreDM) and slope stability software (e.g., STABL Suite, Geoslope) is a plus.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel) and familiarity with AutoCAD is preferred.
