Senior GCP DevOps Engineer

Job Description

The ideal candidate will have strong expertise in Linux-based environments and containerization using Docker, with proven hands-on experience deploying, managing, and scaling Python Django applications on Google Cloud Run in production. The role requires a solid understanding of building and optimizing containerized workloads, CI/CD-driven deployments, and operating reliable, scalable services on Google Cloud Platform (GCP).

Key Responsibilities

• Design, deploy, manage, and optimize scalable infrastructure on Google Cloud Platform (GCP) to host Django applications.
• Build, deploy, secure, and operate production Django workloads using Google Cloud Run, including configuration of services, revisions, and traffic splitting.
• Architect and manage Google Cloud Networking, including VPCs, subnets, firewall rules, Cloud Load Balancing, and Cloud CDN for optimal application performance and security.
• Implement and manage containerized Django deployments on Google Kubernetes Engine(GKE), including cluster management, node pools, and workload optimization.
• Apply Linux and Docker best practices to build efficient, secure container images for Django applications and manage their runtime on Cloud Run and GKE.
• Implement GCP security best practices for Django apps, including managing secrets, using Cloud IAM, Workload Identity, service accounts, and configuring CMEK/SMK.
• Automate GCP infrastructure provisioning, CI/CD pipelines, and operational tasks using gcloud CLI, Terraform, and other automation tools.
• Configure and maintain comprehensive monitoring, alerting, and logging for Django services using Cloud Monitoring, Cloud Logging, and Grafana.
• Troubleshoot and resolve production issues across the full stack from Django application code and PostgreSQL database performance to container runtime and cloud networking, ensuring high availability and reliability.

Must-Have

• Solid expertise in Docker and Linux-based containerized environments.
• Strong expertise in Python and the Django framework, including ORM, middleware, migrations, and Django REST Framework.
• Proven production experience deploying, securing, monitoring, and operating Python Django applications on Google Cloud Run and Google Kubernetes Engine (GKE).
• Deep hands-on experience with Google Cloud Platform, including gcloud CLI, Cloud Run, and Google Cloud networking concepts.
• Experience implementing infrastructure-as-code (Terraform preferred) and building CI/CD pipelines for automated deployments.

Good-to-Have

• Experience working with GCP managed databases such as Cloud SQL (PostgreSQL) in Django applications.
• Familiarity with Django background processing (Celery), task queues, and caching strategies on GCP.
• Good experience working with Redis-cache on production.
• Good-to-have Google Cloud Professional Cloud DevOps Engineer or equivalent GCP certification.

Required Skills

• 5+ years of experience in DevOps, SRE, or cloud engineering roles.
• Deep expertise in Google Cloud CLI, Cloud Run, and Google Cloud Networking.
• Strong hands-on experience with production deployments, CI/CD pipelines, automation, monitoring, and security.
• Proven ability to work independently, troubleshoot complex systems, and operate reliably in production environments.
