About the role
The Senior Fund Accountant will manage the financial reporting and accounting for multiple real estate investment funds. This includes preparing financial statements, performing general ledger tasks, coordinating audits, and ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements.
Responsibilities
- Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements for assigned real estate investment funds.
- Perform general ledger accounting, journal entries, accruals, and reconciliations for fund-level entities.
- Record capital calls, distributions, and management fees in accordance with partnership agreements.
- Aid in investor reporting, including capital account statements and performance metrics.
- Cook up year-end audits and tax return preparation with external auditors and tax advisors.
- Monitor fund cash flows, bank reconciliations, and investment activity to ensure accuracy and compliance.
- Track and maintain waterfall models, promote calculations, and carry out carried interest allocations.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required; CPA preferred.
- 4-8 years of accounting experience, preferably in public accounting or fund accounting.
- Strong understanding of partnership/fund accounting principles and real estate investment structures.
- Proficiency in accounting software (Yardi or similar) and Excel.
- Familiarity with GAAP, fair value accounting, and real estate valuation concepts.
