Senior Functional Technology Analyst (SAP/S/4Hana)
About the Role
The Senior Functional Technology Analyst will support NYPA’s Strategic Supply Management team by providing SAP S/4HANA MM and Ivalua functional expertise across the full Source-to-Pay (S2P) process. This role involves working closely with procurement business users to troubleshoot system and functional issues, configure enhancements, support reporting needs, and ensure stable, efficient procurement operations. The analyst will also participate in requirement gathering, testing, documentation, and integration activities while driving continuous improvement across the procurement technology landscape.
Responsibilities
- Analyze and solve procurement system and functional issues in SAP S/4HANA and Ivalua in a timely manner.
- Respond to business users for procurement system-related questions and issues, troubleshoot problems, and provide clear, practical functional solutions.
- Work collaboratively with cross-functional teams (Budgets, AP, IT) to ensure resolution of issues.
- Configure, implement, and test new or enhanced procurement functionalities in SAP, Ivalua, and Ariba or other related technical solutions to improve efficiency.
- Lead testing activities (unit, integration, UAT) and resolve defects.
- Develop SQL queries and analytical reports, capture KPIs from procurement systems (SAP ERP, SAP Ariba, Ivalua), and facilitate dashboard creation and visualization in Microsoft Power BI and SAP Analytics Cloud.
- Create detailed functional specifications, process flows, test scripts, and user guides; conduct user training.
- Monitor and resolve data quality issues in Master Data for Business Partner, Material Master, and Contract data.
- Work with IT to develop standards for Master Data Quality.
- Support maintenance of system integrations and data interfaces between SAP and external procurement platforms (Ariba or Ivalua).
- Maintain a Data Governance framework that meets data objectives.
- Design and configure solutions in IT systems used by the organization; implement policies and standards for data management.
- Identify and establish data quality rules and definitions; develop data quality metrics to ensure compliance with standards.
- Work with all areas of the business to ensure data quality and integrity.
- Facilitate the development of queries, reports, and insights across the company.
- Act as the primary system administrator and control point for system access and maintenance; maintain and facilitate creation of user accounts.
- Support technology implementation, rollout, and development of communications for company-wide users.
- Proactively manage communications and training on changes to systems and processes.
- Drive business user adoption of business intelligence and self-service reporting.
Requirements
- Hands-on experience in Supplier Management processes such as Ariba or Ivalua.
- Sound knowledge of end-to-end procurement processes (Source to Contract, Procure to Pay) and inventory management.
- Strong familiarity with SAP core components such as tables, transports, transaction codes, queries, and reports.
- Proven ability to work closely with business users to troubleshoot and resolve functional and system issues across SAP and Ariba/Ivalua procurement platforms.
- Strong understanding of system integrations and interfaces between SAP BTP and external procurement systems (Ariba or Ivalua).
- Ability to create reports using PivotTables, XLOOKUP, and other tools in a clear and concise way.
- Experience in designing, configuring, and implementing Information Systems and procedures.
- Strong knowledge of IT and Data Architecture concepts, methods, and strategies.
- Familiarity with data modeling, data dictionary, data analytics, and data profiling.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to identify, quantify, and effectively raise business risks.
- Excellent verbal and written communication and presentation skills.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Business Management, Information Management, Statistics, Engineering, or a similar field.
- 4+ years of experience in moderately complex system design and implementation.
- Experience in a data organization, performing tasks within different data governance aspects (quality, standards, reference data, data management) preferred.
- Experience building queries and using data analysis tools.
- Experience in the Utilities industry preferred.

Pay
The estimated salary range for this position is $110,000 - $150,700. The salary offered will be determined based on the successful candidate’s relevant experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities.
Schedule
- Limited travel (up to 10%) required, primarily to generating facilities and various NYPA locations within New York State.
