About the role

Partner Engineering and Science, Inc. is seeking an experienced Senior Full-Stack Software Engineer to serve as a technical leader within our innovative Products Team. This role is centered on hands-on development, architectural decision-making, and mentoring developers to support the delivery of high-quality, scalable software applications.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the design, development, testing, and deployment of software applications.
  • Collaborate on both front-end and back-end development tasks as necessary.
  • Team Leadership: Mentor a team of software developers to ensure professional growth and technical excellence.
  • Perform code reviews, suggest best practices, participate in architecture and design sessions, and align with design and product management.
  • System Modernization: Maintain and modernize existing systems to improve scalability, reliability, and performance.
  • Guide the technical implementation of new features and system upgrades.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with cross-functional teams, including product managers, designers, and QA, to ensure alignment on project objectives.
  • Serve as a liaison between technical teams and business stakeholders.
  • Continual Learning: Establish best practices for coding, testing, and deployment within the team.
  • Promote the use of CI/CD pipelines and automation to enhance efficiency and reduce errors.
  • Use AI-assisted development to improve workflows, from feature development to debugging and aligning on technical requirements.
  • Technical Oversight: Provide guidance on architectural decisions, engineering patterns, and tool selection.

Requirements

  • Experience: 5+ years of software development experience with increasing levels of responsibility.
  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
  • Technical Skills: Expertise in software development; experience with Ruby on Rails is a strong plus. Experience with cloud-hosted environments, particularly AWS. Proficiency with source control systems (GitHub). Knowledge of CI/CD pipelines (e.g., Github Actions, Travis CI). Familiarity with application monitoring tools like New Relic. Exposure to JavaScript frameworks, especially Vue.js, is a plus.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience designing, building, or leading production software features that use LLMs or similar AI services, with practical understanding of prompt workflows, evaluation methods, reliability concerns, and system tradeoffs.
  • Experience defining or improving evaluation approaches for AI-enabled product functionality, including quality measurement, failure analysis, and iterative refinement.
  • Experience with cloud application deployments using containerization (e.g. Docker, Kubernetes), DevOps, particularly in AWS.
  • Experience with Python for backend services, scripting, automation, data workflows, or AI-related application development.
  • Knowledge of Agile development methodologies and practices.
  • Strong understanding of testing frameworks and debugging tools.
