About us
Backgammon.com is building the largest online backgammon community. Not just a place for competitive players, but the home for everyone who plays: people learning the game, casual players, and serious competitors alike. One place to play, learn, improve, compete, and connect. We are a small, senior team that ships quickly and owns what we build.
What you’ll do
- Build player-facing features, leading on the frontend and working through the full stack
- Shape the frontend architecture and raise the quality bar as the product grows
- Work on real-time, interactive experiences: live games, matchmaking, presence, analysis
- Ship well-tested, polished features and own them in production
- Partner closely with product and design in a tight, fast feedback loop
Our stack
- Frontend: React, React Native, TypeScript
- Backend: Python, Django, PostgreSQL
- Real-time: WebSockets
- Infrastructure: AWS
- AI-assisted development is part of how we work every day
What we’re looking for
- Senior full-stack experience with real frontend depth: you are at home owning a feature from the interface through to the API and database
- Strong with React and TypeScript; solid with Python/Django
- Experience with real-time or highly interactive products (games, chat, live data) is a strong plus
- A bias for shipping complete, high-quality work fast
- Comfortable with high autonomy on a small team
- Comfortable in a containerized development workflow (Docker)
Nice to have
- Frontend leadership experience: able to own frontend direction and mentor as the team grows
- Background in online games or competitive, real-time products
- You play backgammon, or you want to
Benefits
- 100% remote work
- Competitive salary
- Healthcare
- 401(k) Match
- Unlimited paid time off
- Fun, collaborative culture
Why join us?
- Small team, which will increase in size as we scale operations
- Fully remote, and largely asynchronous. We need a self-directed developer comfortable with autonomy, high standards for code quality, and end-to-end ownership
- Weekly synchronous meetings with the full product, development, and design teams, with additional synchronous meetings as necessary
