Senior Full- Stack Engineer, Shopify & E-Commerce
Javvy is on a mission to set a new standard for café favorites with better-for-you beverages that are craveable, convenient, and without compromise. Positioned at the intersection of café culture, convenience, and functional nutrition, we’re reimagining the drinks people buy every day — proving you don’t have to compromise between great taste and quality ingredients. What began as a cult-favorite DTC brand has rapidly scaled into an omnichannel business, now expanding into major retail while building a loyal community around better-for-you café favorites.
About the Role
We're hiring a Senior Full-Stack Engineer to help us build our ecommerce engine faster, cleaner, and with fewer surprises after launch. This is a true full-stack role — spanning Shopify, custom frontend/backend systems, checkout and cart flows, subscriptions, experimentation infrastructure, tracking, and AI-assisted engineering workflows. It's built for someone who's already owned this kind of work as a Senior Full-Stack Engineer, Shopify/Ecommerce Engineer, or Lead Engineer at a DTC brand or agency, and wants to do it with more ownership and less red tape.
Responsibilities
- Build and maintain high-quality ecommerce experiences across Shopify and our custom infrastructure.
- Work with Shopify APIs, product/variant data, cart behavior, checkout constraints, and webhooks.
- Ship frontend experiences in React, Next.js, and occasionally Vue.
- Build backend services, integrations, and internal tools.
- Extend our Cloudflare Workers and reverse-proxy/split-testing infrastructure.
- Support A/B testing and experimentation across the ecommerce funnel.
- Improve subscription experiences — Recharge/customer portal flows, cancellations, product swaps, rebill logic, and retention features.
- Implement and validate tracking across experiments, attribution, and analytics (Amplitude, Elevar, PostHog, server-side tracking, or similar).
- Use AI coding tools as leverage — to move faster, explore approaches, debug, and check your own work.
- Own pre-launch QA for high-impact launches: pricing tests, checkout changes, subscription changes, tracking updates.
- Catch edge cases before customers or the business do, and monitor launches after release.
- Communicate early and clearly — especially when something's risky, under-scoped, or likely to break.
Allocation of Work:
- 40% — Shopify, cart, checkout, and ecommerce funnel work
- 25% — Custom web apps and services (React, Next.js, occasionally Vue)
- 15% — Cloudflare Workers, reverse proxy, and split-testing infrastructure
- 10% — Recharge / subscription and customer portal work
- 10% — QA, release process, code review, and technical standards
Requirements
- Production experience with Shopify — Admin API, Storefront API, webhooks, product/variant/cart/checkout logic.
- Strong React and/or Next.js, plus TypeScript or strong modern JavaScript.
- Node.js (or similar) backend experience and solid API design chops.
- Comfort integrating third-party APIs, using Git/GitHub PR workflows, and owning production deployments.
- A track record of debugging production issues and building software that's fast, reliable, and maintainable.
- Sound judgment using AI dev tools — as an accelerant, not a substitute for engineering fundamentals.
Qualifications
Strongly Preferred:
- Recharge or a similar subscription platform (Skio, Stay.ai, Smartrr, Ordergroove, Loop, etc.).
- Subscription flows: skips, delays, swaps, rebills, save offers.
- Shopify Functions / Checkout Extensibility.
- Cloudflare Workers, reverse proxies, or edge infrastructure.
- A/B testing or experimentation systems.
- Ecommerce analytics and tracking tools (Amplitude, Elevar, PostHog, server-side tracking).
- Performance optimization for high-traffic ecommerce pages.
- Building internal tools for ecommerce, ops, or catalog management.
- Real, hands-on experience with AI-assisted coding workflows (Cursor, Claude Code, GitHub Copilot, ChatGPT, or similar).
What Success Looks Like
- Ecommerce launches ship faster, with fewer post-launch fire drills.
- High-impact Shopify, checkout, subscription, and tracking work needs less manual oversight from the CTO.
- A/B tests, pricing changes, and checkout updates are implemented cleanly and measured correctly.
- AI tools boost velocity without ever lowering the quality bar.
- The rest of the engineering team levels up from working alongside you.
Who Thrives Here
- You ship quickly without being sloppy, and you test your own work before handing it off.
- You think in edge cases, not just happy paths — because you know ecommerce bugs cost real revenue.
- You can take a business problem, not just a polished ticket, and run with it.
- You push back — clearly and early — when something's risky or under-specified.
- You debug deeply instead of guessing, and you leave every system better than you found it.
- You care about conversion and customer experience as much as clean code.
- You raise the bar for everyone around you.
How We Think About AI
We believe AI is a serious engineering advantage when it's used well. We want someone who uses it to explore approaches faster, write boilerplate, generate tests, debug, and review code — not someone who ships code because it appeared to work once. You should be able to look at AI-generated code and know immediately whether it's wrong, insecure, unscalable, or under-tested. No vibe coding. Use AI aggressively — but keep your engineering judgment firmly in the driver's seat.
