Senior FPGA Engineer
Responsibilities
- Lead FPGA and firmware architecture, design, development, and implementation efforts.
- Define system requirements and translate them into technical solutions.
- Drive architectural decisions and technical direction for embedded systems and FPGA-based platforms.
- Develop and maintain FPGA designs using VHDL, Verilog, and SystemVerilog.
- Design and implement embedded firmware, device drivers, and hardware interfaces.
- Develop and optimize algorithms for FPGA implementation.
- Execute verification and validation activities to ensure product quality and performance.
- Create and maintain technical documentation, including requirements, design specifications, test protocols, and reports.
- Support system integration, troubleshooting, and product release activities.
- Collaborate with cross-functional engineering teams throughout the development lifecycle.
- Contribute to development processes, design reviews, and engineering best practices.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Software Engineering, or equivalent experience.
- Strong FPGA development experience with a proven track record of delivering production-quality designs.
- Proficiency in: VHDL, Verilog, SystemVerilog.
- Experience designing, implementing, debugging, and optimizing FPGA-based systems.
- Experience making system architecture and technical design decisions for complex products.
- Experience developing products within a regulated industry environment such as medical devices, aerospace, defense, automotive, or industrial systems.
- Experience with verification and validation methodologies for embedded systems.
- Knowledge of hardware/software integration and embedded system development.
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
- Ability to operate independently and lead technical initiatives.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Software Engineering, or equivalent experience.
- Medical device industry experience preferred.
- Familiarity with IEC 62304, IEC 60601, FDA, MDR, or similar regulated product standards preferred.
- Experience with digital signal processing (DSP) algorithms and implementations preferred.
- Experience with cybersecurity requirements for embedded products preferred.
- Experience with software and hardware tool validation preferred.
- Knowledge of risk management processes in regulated environments preferred.
- Experience working within Agile development environments preferred.
- Experience with mobile application development preferred.
- Experience with user interface development preferred.
- Master's degree in a related engineering discipline preferred.
