Duties and Responsibilities

  • Work with GA-EMS Engineering staff and chief engineers in the concept development and prototype design, integration, and test of space-based imaging systems for all product lines and technology areas.
  • These encompass advanced imaging sensors and detectors, real-time image processing, target detection and tracking, signal/image processing, test equipment development, and instrumentation.
  • With limited direction, exercise considerable latitude for initiating and developing designs, techniques, and solutions to resolving advanced technical engineering problems.

Job Qualifications

  • Typically requires a bachelors degree, masters degree or PhD in engineering or a related technical discipline from an accredited institution and progressive engineering experience as follows; twelve or more years of experience with a bachelors degree, ten or more years of experience with a masters degree, or seven or more years with a PhD.
  • May substitute equivalent engineering experience in lieu of education.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Security Clearance is required.
  • Required experience designing and implementing real-time imaging algorithms on FPGAs for optical systems including interfacing with detectors, image processors, and high-speed data transfers.
  • Required experience performing simulation, validation, and hardware-in-the-loop testing of FPGA-based control systems.
  • Develop HDL (VHDL or Verilog) and embedded C/C++ firmware using tools such as Xilinx Vivado and Vitis.
  • Perform simulation, validation, and hardware-in-the-loop testing of FPGA-based control systems.
  • Integrate systems with sensors, actuators, and optical components.
  • Optimize signal processing pipelines for low-latency, high-precision performance.
  • Must possess the ability to understand new concepts quickly and apply them accurately throughout an evolving project environment.
  • Strong communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills to effectively interface with other departments, customers, government representatives, and/or professionals.
  • Capable of representing the organization as a prime technical contact on projects.
  • May represent the organization as a prime technical contact on projects.
