About the Role
Responsible for reviewing individual, trust, partnership, and corporate tax returns; developing and supervising Staff, preparing more complex tax returns, and managing client relationships.
Responsibilities
- Prepare and review tax returns prepared by Staff and make recommendations regarding accuracy and tax savings opportunities.
- Prepare more complex tax returns for individuals, trusts, partnerships, and corporations.
- Lead, manage, and complete entire Tax and Consulting engagements (planning, executing, directing, delegating tasks, and completing tax projects).
- Proactively interact with key client management to gather information, identify, and resolve tax-related problems, and make recommendations for business and process improvements.
- Assist Partners on proposals and business development calls; actively promote expanding services and continually improve client relationships.
- Possess an understanding of state and foreign tax issues.
- Complete research projects to reach a technical conclusion.
- Monitor and respond to tax authority communications; assist clients with tax audits and other needs.
- Use appropriate accounting software or systems to prepare tax returns.
- Maintain understanding and knowledge of changes in tax law and regulations by reading professional literature or attending tax seminars and training courses.
- Participate in civic and/or networking events.
- Determine own personal career path; facilitate staff and team development.
- Supervise, train, and mentor entry-level Staff on tax projects.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Excellent interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills.
- Detail-oriented with the ability to multi-task.
- Strong accounting, analytical, and organizational skills.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or similar software, with the ability to learn new or updated software.
- Strong leadership, training, and mentoring skills.
- Able to work with minimal supervision.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting or related field, required.
- 3-4 years’ experience in public accounting tax experience, preferred.
- Experience preparing individual, trust, partnership, and corporate tax returns.
Work Environment
This job is conducted in an office work environment, sitting most of the time, working on a computer. Must be able to exert up to 20 lbs. of force occasionally. Some travel may be required.
Schedule
Typically, Monday through Friday, 8am-5pm. Additional hours are required during peak season.
