About the Role

Responsible for reviewing individual, trust, partnership, and corporate tax returns; developing and supervising staff, preparing more complex tax returns, and managing client relationships.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare and review tax returns prepared by staff and make recommendations regarding accuracy and tax savings opportunities.
  • Prepare more complex tax returns for individuals, trusts, partnerships, and corporations.
  • Lead, manage, and complete entire tax and consulting engagements (planning, executing, directing, delegating tasks, and completing tax projects).
  • Proactively interact with key client management to gather information, identify and resolve tax-related problems, and recommend business and process improvements.
  • Assist partners on proposals and business development calls; actively promote expanding services and improving client relationships.
  • Possess an understanding of state and foreign tax issues.
  • Complete research projects to reach technical conclusions.
  • Monitor and respond to tax authority communications; assist clients with tax audits and other needs.
  • Use appropriate accounting software or systems to prepare tax returns.
  • Maintain understanding and knowledge of changes in tax law and regulations by reading professional literature or attending tax seminars and training courses.
  • Participate in civic and/or networking events.
  • Determine personal career path; facilitate staff and team development.
  • Supervise, train, and mentor entry-level staff on tax projects.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Excellent interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills.
  • Detail-oriented with the ability to multi-task.
  • Strong accounting, analytical, and organizational skills.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or similar software, with the ability to learn new or updated software.
  • Strong leadership, training, and mentoring skills.
  • Able to work with minimal supervision.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting or related field, required.
  • 3-4 years’ experience in public accounting tax experience, preferred.
  • Experience preparing individual, trust, partnership, and corporate tax returns.

Work Environment

This job is conducted in an office work environment, primarily sitting and working on a computer. Must be able to exert up to 20 lbs. of force occasionally. Some travel may be required.

Schedule

Typically, Monday through Friday, 8am-5pm. Additional hours are required during peak season.
