About the Role
As a Senior Flower Technician, you will perform a variety of plant maintenance activities to ensure the highest quality flower for patients and consumers. You will ensure the healthy growth of cannabis plants, maintain a safe and positive work environment, and train new employees on SOPs and best practices. Additionally, you will handle required computer work.
Responsibilities
- Safety, Quality & Compliance:
- Participate in department safety audits and hazard assessments
- Train new hires on department 5S requirements
- Ensure all employees execute processes according to department-specific training guidelines
- Report and escalate safety concerns
- Train employees on compliance with PPE and area safety requirements
- Train employees on compliance with GMP, biosecurity, sanitation, or other quality and compliance requirements
- Train employees on accurate and complete company and state-required record keeping
- Train employees on tools, equipment, and machinery
- Ensure department inventory requirements are met
- Report and escalate quality concerns
- Production:
- Use hands and hand tools to perform plant maintenance activities including defoliation, pruning, and skirting
- Function as a stand-in for an area lead
- Communicate production goals and maintain tracking of performance
- Execute IPM activities, including spraying and all associated requirements
- Job Knowledge:
- Follow department-specific work instructions, SOPs, and employee training
- Develop deep technical knowledge for the department
- Recognize different strains, their requirements, growth patterns, and identify anomalies within plants; recommend actions to address issues
- Continuous Improvement:
- Participate in continuous improvement projects
Requirements
- Associate's degree or certifications preferred
- Minimum of one year of experience working in a manufacturing or agricultural environment
- Intermediate-level computer skills in Microsoft Office Applications
- Effective time-management skills and ability to multi-task
- Ability to work well with others while completing individually assigned tasks
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, changing, and challenging environment
- Must comply with Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) requirements
- Must be able to work in an environment that is 85+ degrees and 70% humidity for extended periods
- Must be able to work at heights
- Prior cannabis experience not required
- Must pass all required background checks and be approved by the state badging agency to work in the cannabis industry
- Must remain compliant with all legal or company regulations for working in the industry
- Must possess a valid driver’s license
- Must be a minimum of 21 years of age
Working Conditions
- Regularly required to perform reaching, grasping, bending, stooping, talking, hearing, seeing, and repetitive motions
- Must be able to lift, carry, and balance up to 50 pounds with extreme care and caution while working with product
- Daily exposure to allergens such as cannabis, tree nuts, and coconut oil
Pay
Green Thumb Pay Range: $21—$22 USD per hour. Positions may be eligible for a discretionary annual incentive program driven by organization and individual performance.
