Senior Fixed Income & Derivatives Portfolio Manager

About the role
We are seeking an experienced Senior Fixed Income & Derivatives Portfolio Manager to join a collaborative investment and treasury team responsible for portfolio management, fixed income trading, valuation, hedging, and risk management. This role offers broad exposure across the fixed income and derivatives markets. The successful candidate will contribute to investment decisions, advanced pricing and analysis, derivative transactions, portfolio strategy, and risk management. The ideal candidate combines strong quantitative capabilities with deep knowledge of fixed income markets and the ability to understand the rationale behind investment and trading strategies. This is a highly collaborative environment with limited traditional silos, where team members contribute across multiple areas of the business.
Responsibilities
- Manage and monitor fixed income investment portfolios and related strategies.
- Execute and support fixed income securities and derivative transactions.
- Analyze market conditions and identify potential trading and investment opportunities.
- Perform advanced pricing, valuation, and quantitative analysis of fixed income securities and derivatives.
- Develop and execute hedging strategies to manage portfolio and market risk.
- Analyze securitized products, including mortgage-backed and other structured securities.
- Evaluate mortgage prepayment behavior and its impact on portfolio valuation and performance.
- Monitor portfolio risk metrics and ensure compliance with applicable accounting and risk-management standards, including GAAP requirements.
- Conduct detailed analysis to support portfolio construction, investment decisions, and strategic initiatives.
- Collaborate with treasury, capital markets, investment, risk, and other internal stakeholders.
- Utilize financial and analytical platforms to support trading, valuation, portfolio management, and risk analysis.
- Participate in strategic projects and initiatives related to investments, markets, portfolio management, and treasury operations.
- Maintain a strong understanding of market developments, economic conditions, and factors affecting fixed income valuations.
- Ensure accuracy and attention to detail across investment analysis, transactions, valuations, and reporting.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Economics, Accounting, Statistics, or a related field.
- Minimum of 7 years of professional investment experience.
- Strong experience with fixed income securities and markets.
- Strong understanding of securitized products.
- Advanced knowledge of fixed income analysis, valuation, and pricing.
- Experience with fixed income derivatives and related risk management/valuation.
- Strong understanding of mortgage prepayment behavior.
- Demonstrated ability to identify and evaluate trading or investment opportunities.
- Strong quantitative, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
- Extensive knowledge of financial markets, economics, accounting, investment, and banking principles.
- Experience with analytical and trading platforms such as Bloomberg, Tradeweb, Intex, PolyPaths, Principia, SimCorp Dimension, or comparable tools.
- Strong technical skills with SQL and Excel.
- Excellent attention to detail and ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to work collaboratively across investment and treasury functions.
Preferred Qualifications
- MBA and/or CFA designation.
- Experience with VBA or other financial programming/automation tools.
- Short-term money market experience.
- Experience with portfolio hedging and derivative strategies.
- Experience with mortgage-backed securities and other structured products.
- Strong interest in learning new investment products, technologies, and analytical approaches.

You should be able to not only execute investment activities but also explain the reasoning, assumptions, risks, and expected outcomes behind investment and trading decisions.
Schedule
This position requires an early start to align with market activity. Typical working hours are approximately 6:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., with some flexibility based on team needs and start time. This position is fully onsite five days per week and does not follow a standard hybrid work schedule.
Pay
Base salary: $170,000–$185,000 plus a 25% annual incentive target based on organizational performance.
