About the role

A Senior Fisheries Engineering Consultant position is available to lead fish passage projects and manage people, projects, and client relationships. This role offers the opportunity to work either in an office or remotely, depending on personal needs, with offices located in Portland, OR, Redmond, WA, Strasburg, PA, or Portland, ME.

Responsibilities

  • Design and manage fisheries projects including technical fishways, hatcheries, floating surface collectors, and downstream passage.
  • Collaborate with clients, agencies, and contractors during the planning and construction phases of projects.
  • Lay out and design fishway projects as part of a multi-discipline team, utilizing software such as AutoCAD Civil 3D, Revit, and/or MEP.
  • Lead a multi-discipline team to solve complex engineering challenges creatively and establish long-term relationships in the industry and with clients.
  • Mentor junior-level staff and contribute to a cohesive team environment.

Requirements

  • Licensed Professional Engineer with a BSCE or MS degree in a related field.
  • Minimum of 16 years' experience in fisheries or a closely related field.
  • Experience designing and managing fisheries projects, with a specialty in structural, mechanical, hydraulics, or civil engineering.
  • Knowledge of relevant standards and codes, and experience working with clients, agencies, and contractors.
  • Familiarity with regulatory and permitting processes for fisheries engineering projects, and construction experience, fish hatchery experience, and nature-like fishway experience.
  • Ability to work in AutoCAD Civil 3D, Revit, and/or MEP, though not required.

Qualifications

  • Permanent authorization to work in the United States and ability to obtain authorization to work in Canada when needed.
  • Willingness to travel and possession of a valid driver's license (anticipated 0-10% travel).
  • Ability to acquire and maintain a P.E. license within a year, or be committed to obtaining one, and to obtain additional state/provincial licenses as required.

Benefits

Competitive salary range of $120,000 - $160,000, with an 8%+ bonus target.
