About the Role

The Senior Fire Alarm Technician will install, program, and service fire alarm systems, act as the primary contact for system service, manage installation projects and budgets, lead service and installation crews, and work with customers to integrate related building systems.

Responsibilities

• Diagnose and repair fire alarm and physical security systems at customer locations to restore full functionality.
• Perform preventative maintenance as required by service and maintenance contracts.
• Troubleshoot issues remotely using provided software and an internet connection.
• Travel continuously to customer locations throughout Florida and Georgia.
• Work independently to research and resolve equipment issues.
• Assist with technical support issues and perform special projects or other assigned duties.

Requirements

• Valid state driver’s license.
• Post-secondary certificate preferred; minimum 5 years of experience in a related field.
• NICET II certification or higher preferred.
• Electrical background and knowledge of electronic equipment, including low-voltage systems (relays, loops, inputs/outputs).
• Knowledge of fire alarm systems, test equipment, and the ability to diagnose and repair systems efficiently.
• Strong communication, organizational, and PC skills (Microsoft Office, Command Prompt, and ability to learn manufacturer-specific software).
• Ability to read schematics, blueprints, and operational materials, with an understanding of relay logic.
• Experience with Edwards Life Safety Equipment preferred.
• Pass mandatory hiring requirements: references, background check, drug screen testing.

Working Conditions

• Work in various weather conditions (heat, cold, rain, snow) and utilize construction site sanitary facilities (porta-johns).
• Must have personal tools at all times and be able to work from ladders, scaffolds, aerial work platforms, catwalks, and other safe work areas at heights up to 90 feet.
• Work in restricted or confined spaces such as network closets and crawl spaces.
• Wear all required personal protective equipment (PPE).
• Regularly work 40 hours per week plus overtime, including night shifts, weekends, and out-of-town work as required.

Physical and Mental Requirements

• Comprehend construction drawings, schematics, specifications, and safe work procedures.
• Safely use power tools, including two-handed tools (cable cutters, hammer drills, compression tools).
• Read and interpret maps, instructional manuals, work site directions, and written instructions.
• Hear and see well (naturally or with correction).
• Perform physical tasks: bend, stoop, squat, crawl, climb, kneel, balance, push, pull, and reach overhead.
• Able to lift objects up to 50 pounds, with frequent lifting and carrying of objects up to 20 pounds.
• Tolerate prolonged standing, movement, and repetitive use of arms, hands, and fingers.
• Climb ladders (all types) and perform overhead work for full-day assignments.
