About the role

This position provides financial support for Student Union (SU) operations. This position will perform a variety of accounting activities applying accepted procedures to the preparation and maintenance of accounting and other records, as well as preparing financial reports to ensure accurate accounting records.

Responsibilities

  • Performing a variety of accounting activities applying accepted procedures to the preparation and maintenance of accounting and other records.
  • Preparing financial reports to ensure accurate accounting records.
  • Accounts payable and receiving all tender types from SU operations (approximately $19 million).
  • Preparing daily deposits in accordance with the cash control policy.
  • Recording of transactions on correct reports and schedules.
  • Daily and monthly reconciliations of all accounts.

Requirements

  • High School/GED (degree must be conferred on or before agreed upon start date)
  • 3 years of related clerical/customer service experience.
  • Post-secondary education may substitute for years of required experience.
  • Knowledge of accounting procedures.
  • Strong organizational skills are required.
  • Excellent people skills and willing to help others.
  • Maintain confidentiality in working with students' accounts.
  • Able to handle cash in a competent and responsible manner.
  • Able to deal with diverse public and explain policies and procedures with consistency.
  • Skilled in use of Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Access, and 10-key and knowledge of the University Systems.
  • Highly dependable.
  • High level of accuracy required.

Qualifications

All other duties as assigned. May require working late hours or some weekends.

Benefits

Due to weight of coin sacks, must be able to lift 20-30 pounds.

Pay

$14.25 - $18.00 Hourly

Schedule

Monday through Friday, 8:00am-5:00pm with occasional evenings and weekends.
