Senior Financial Analyst- Defense

About the role
As a critical member of nLIGHT and the Finance team, the Senior Financial Analyst for Defense will partner with executive management and all areas of the business to support the growth and profitability of the defense business group in a complex manufacturing environment. This position requires high personal and professional values, excellent judgment, and strong leadership skills.
Responsibilities
- Business Partnering – Support contract proposals and performance. Provide recommendations and develop reporting/processes that improve insight and decision-making.
- Reporting – Develop insightful reports supporting monthly/quarterly/annual results and forecast, and support execution on a portfolio of programs.
- Forecasting – Coordinate and prepare rolling forecasts and planning scenarios using both traditional FP&A and EVMS tools. Provide guidance to improve forecasting accuracy, results, and identify areas of risk.
- Financial Reporting Support – Review accounting packages to ensure accuracy, explain trends and variances, and develop reporting for better organizational understanding.
- Compliance Support – Support proposal reviews, annual rate proposals, and DCAA/DCMA audits. Partner cross-functionally to ensure FAR compliance, support external audit requirements, and protect sensitive information.
- Lead and participate on departmental, inter-company, and cross-functional teams to improve reporting and processes across accounting, operations, government contracts, and finance.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or a similar field.
- Minimum 6 years of experience in a Corporate Finance or Program Control organization supporting Government Programs, ideally in a dual-segment manufacturing company.
- Power user of Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint.
- Experience with EVMS, Forecasting, and ERP systems.
- Ability to organize and complete multiple high-priority projects on schedule.
- Advanced problem-solving skills and strong judgment.
- Strong communication skills, including the ability to convey complex information to management.
- Creative and tenacious problem-solver with strong analytical skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Understanding of FAR and CAS requirements.
- Experience supporting Government Programs.

Pay
Starting pay depends on qualifications: $100,000 - $123,000.
