About the Opportunity
The Senior Financial Analyst will serve as the primary finance partner for the R&D organization, responsible for driving financial analysis related to product investments, cloud hosting infrastructure, and product line performance. This role is key to informing strategic decisions and supporting growth by translating complex financial data into actionable insights that influence the organization's product development and investment priorities.
Responsibilities
- Own the end-to-end annual budgeting and monthly rolling forecasts for the entire R&D organization, including engineering headcount, external contractor expenses, software licenses, engineering tooling, and cloud infrastructure costs
- Act as the primary, day-to-day corporate finance liaison for R&D leadership, proactively addressing budget inquiries, modeling ad-hoc scenarios, and providing financial clarity for strategic decision-making
- Develop robust, data-driven business case models for proposed R&D investments, net-new product initiatives, and major structural capability builds, incorporating cost structures, revenue projections, and payback period analysis
- Model complex investment tradeoffs and systematically track actual financial performance against original business case assumptions
- Support company-wide growth and profitability targets by directly linking R&D resource investments to product delivery timelines and overall revenue potential
- Manage granular cloud hosting cost reporting and financial forecasting, segmenting utilization and spend patterns by specific product lines
- Identify structural optimization opportunities within cloud resources and collaborate closely with engineering teams to analyze and address the cost implications of architectural changes
- Maintain and refine comprehensive product-level profit and loss (P&L) statements covering ARR, recognized revenue, gross margin, and associated capital investments
- Synthesize, package, and contribute highly accurate financial data and variance analysis for executive leadership and board-level reporting packages
Requirements
- Five (5) to eight (8) years of progressive experience in financial planning and analysis (FP&A), corporate finance, or highly analytical financial roles within the SaaS or technology sectors, with distinct exposure to R&D and Go-To-Market (GTM) business models
- Advanced proficiency in corporate budgeting, rolling forecasting, capacity headcount modeling, and comprehensive variance analysis, specifically regarding complex R&D cost structures
- Functional knowledge of cloud infrastructure economics (such as AWS, Azure, or GCP) and a proven ability to model and forecast fluctuating cloud hosting costs
- Strong operational understanding of core SaaS financial metrics, including Annual Recurring Revenue (ARR), Net Revenue Retention (NRR), pipeline velocity, win/close rates, gross margin, Customer Acquisition Cost (CAC), and Lifetime Value (LTV)
- Direct experience developing and maintaining product-level P&L frameworks, including revenue allocation, cost of goods sold (COGS), gross margin determination, and shared investment allocation methods
- Skilled in leveraging advanced AI tools and modern financial software for complex modeling, quantitative research, data analysis, and documentation drafting, paired with the sound financial judgment required to independently audit and validate technical outputs
- Proven ability to navigate, analyze, and synthesize incomplete, ambiguous, or rapidly evolving data sets into highly credible and actionable business insights
- Effective communicator and presenter capable of translating sophisticated financial analysis and quantitative modeling into clear concepts for non-finance audiences, while providing data-backed recommendations to leadership
Pay Range and Compensation Package
The target baseline salary framework is $96,000.00 to $120,000.00 USD annually. Final base salary positioning within this professional band is calibrated dynamically against the final candidate's specialized SaaS finance acumen, cloud cost modeling expertise, and localized market parameters. This corporate finance position is structured as a salaried role and is not eligible for additional commission-based compensation structures.
