Senior Financial Analyst
Position Summary
Children’s Aid is creating a new Senior Financial Analyst role to strengthen the organization’s financial planning, analysis, reporting, and data-driven decision-making capabilities. Working closely with the Financial Planning & Analysis and Program team, Program leadership, and Finance department colleagues, the Senior Financial Analyst will play a vital role in developing, maintaining, and enhancing financial models, forecasting tools, and reporting systems to support effective resource allocation, financial sustainability, and mission-aligned decision making.
Essential Duties
Develop, maintain, and validate staffing position control reports used for budgeting, workforce planning, contract maximization, and financial forecasting.
Partner with program leadership and cross-functional stakeholders to analyze staffing allocations and identify opportunities to maximize revenue and operational effectiveness.
Prepare monthly revenue estimates and collaborate with Finance colleagues to ensure accurate recording and reconciliation within the general ledger.
Conduct variance, trend, scenario, and comparative analyses to evaluate organizational and program financial performance.
Develop and maintain financial models, forecasting tools, cost driver analyses, and key performance indicator KPI frameworks to support decision-making.
Build and enhance financial models to support strategic initiatives, business planning, program growth opportunities, and operational planning.
Consolidate and analyze financial data across multiple funding sources, including government contracts, private grants, foundations, and fee-for-service revenue.
Monitor financial performance to identify trends, risks, opportunities and provide insights and recommendations to leadership.
Prepare clear, concise, and compelling presentations, reports, and recommendations that translate complex financial data into actionable insights for diverse stakeholders.
Prepare, analyze, refine, and automate monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports with actionable insights for Children’s Aid leadership and the CFO.
Develop and maintain dashboards, performance metrics, and management reporting tools that support informed organizational decision-making.
Participate in strategic financial reviews, organizational planning efforts, and special projects in support of Finance and program priorities.
Provide analytical support to Financial Planning and Analysis, colleagues, and cross functional teams on budgeting, forecasting, financial modeling, and operational initiatives.
Collaborate across Finance, Program, Information Technology, Human Resources, and departments to strengthen data integrity and improve financial planning and analysis capabilities.
Support continuous improvement initiatives related to financial systems, reporting processes, and analytical methodologies.
Complete ad hoc financial analysis and special projects as assigned.
Foster strong cross-functional partnerships through regular engagement with Finance, Program, and administrative leadership.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, Business, Public Administration, or related field.
Minimum of eight (8 ) years of progressively responsible experience in financial analysis, budgeting, or financial planning and analysis (FP&A), or a related finance function.
Tech savvy individual with advanced Excel modeling skills and other Microsoft Office Applications.
Experience with enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems and financial reporting platforms; Oracle NetSuite preferred.
Excellent analytical and quantitative skills, with the ability to synthesize complex data into actionable insights, recommendations, and business solutions.
Exceptional written, verbal, and presentation skills, including the ability to communicate financial information effectively to non-financial audiences and diverse stakeholders.
Prominent ability to manage multiple priorities, meet deadlines, and perform effectively in a fast-paced environment.
