About the role

As our Senior Financial Analyst & Accountant, you’ll play a critical role in supporting the financial health and sustainability of Make-A-Wish North Texas. You’ll partner closely with the CFO on budgeting, forecasting, financial analysis, reporting, and decision support while also contributing to accounting, payroll, audit, and compliance activities. This role is ideal for a finance professional who can communicate clearly with non-finance leaders, build strong working relationships across the organization, and confidently move between big-picture analysis and day-to-day financial operations.

Responsibilities

  • Support the annual budget, forecast, and financial planning processes in partnership with the CFO and organizational leaders.
  • Develop and maintain financial models, forecasts, scenario analyses, and planning tools that support decision-making and resource allocation.
  • Analyze financial performance, trends, risks, and opportunities, providing insights and recommendations to support organizational goals.
  • Prepare management reports, dashboards, variance analyses, and financial presentations for leadership, the Finance Committee, and Board.
  • Translate financial data into clear, actionable insights and serve as a finance resource for department leaders and budget managers.
  • Support cross-functional decision-making by helping leaders understand financial performance, spending trends, and budget impacts.
  • Partner with Make-A-Wish America's Shared Financial Services team to support accounting operations, monthly and annual close processes, compliance requirements, and audit activities.
  • Process or assist with weekly check runs, semi-monthly payroll, retirement plan contributions, and related journal entries.
  • Support internal controls, financial compliance, audit preparation, tax reporting requirements, and stewardship of organizational resources.
  • Improve financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, and data analysis processes through the effective use of Excel, Power BI, and other tools.
  • Identify opportunities to leverage automation, data visualization, and technology solutions to improve efficiency, accuracy, and decision-making.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, Economics, Business, or related field required.
  • 4–7 years of progressive accounting, FP&A, nonprofit finance, or related experience.
  • Demonstrated experience in budgeting, forecasting, financial modeling, management reporting, and cross-functional financial analysis preferred.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of best practices in financial modeling, reporting, and data visualization, gained through formal training, professional certification, or experience within organizations with mature FP&A functions.
  • Experience using generative AI tools, such as Claude, Microsoft Copilot, or similar tools, to improve financial analysis, reporting, workflow automation, decision support, or operational efficiency strongly preferred.
  • Strong working knowledge of accounting principles required; nonprofit accounting, audit, Form 990, and payroll experience strongly preferred.
  • Experience with NetSuite, Salesforce, Excel, Power BI, payroll, retirement plan, and expense management software platforms preferred.
  • CPA, CMA, FPAC, MBA, or formal training/certification in financial modeling, FP&A, business analytics, or data visualization preferred.

  • Comprehensive benefits package including healthcare, vision, dental, disability and life insurances
  • 401k company match
