About the role

The Senior Financial Analyst provides in-depth data-driven financial analysis and long-range forecasting and planning for the Credit Union. They support the Finance Manager with insights derived from historical performance data, conduct product pricing analysis and recommendations, and identify key performance metrics and success factors. They also review, analyze, and recommend day-to-day investment and wholesale funding portfolio activities, execute the annual budget process, and provide analysis to executive management.

Responsibilities

  • Provide financial, analytical, and forecasting expertise to drive data-driven decision-making.
  • Support strategic balance sheet management recommendations through ongoing forecasting and Asset Liability Management analysis.
  • Develop and maintain ongoing risk-return analysis guidelines to drive margin-related balance sheet decisions.
  • Develop financial analytical and forecasting models to predict results of business initiatives.
  • Develop specialized analytical tools to facilitate valuation analysis or solve business problems.
  • Evaluate and manage the interest rate risk position of the Credit Union utilizing advanced tools such as derivatives.
  • Coordinate and assist with annual stress testing and scenario analysis.
  • Oversee and execute the credit union's investment strategy, utilizing Bloomberg, within investment policy guidelines.
  • Support junior level analysts with monthly and quarterly forecasts and the annual planning process for assigned business units.
  • Assist junior level analysts with developing insightful and standard reporting that guides decision-making at the executive level.
  • Maintain confidentiality of all pertinent information, securing sensitive information.
  • Prepare and review the annual forecast/budgeting process from initiation to Board approval for their area of responsibility.
  • Provide recommendations and analysis for use by senior managers and executives to evaluate their businesses, including industry benchmarking.
  • Lead various financial projects and ad hoc analysis support relating to expenses and large vendor payments.
  • Create and analyze monthly, quarterly, and annual reports to ensure financial information is recorded accurately.
  • Handle complex and high-level financial analysis, supporting junior level analysts in assigned ad hoc projects and analysis.
  • Present and discuss analysis with senior management.
  • Utilize back testing results from ad hoc analysis to drive efficiencies and process improvements for future analysis.
  • Lead loan and deposit pricing committees to support appropriate gross margin levels while maintaining relevance in competitive markets.

Requirements

8+ years' financial analysis experience within the financial industry, including experience running an Asset Liability Management Model such as FPS, QRM, Empyrean, or similar, and exposure to capital markets is preferred. A Bloomberg Certification is preferred. Completion of a required Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, or related field is required. Must have and maintain a valid driver's license.

  • Ability to deal with highly confidential information in a professional manner.
