Senior Field Service Specialist

About the Role

Performs complex electrical apparatus work onsite at customer’s facilities, including electrical testing, preventative maintenance, commissioning, upgrades, and repairs. Responsible for troubleshooting, training, establishing LOTO, interacting with customers, report writing, and more.

Responsibilities

• Execute mechanical and electrical tasks on equipment utilized in power transmission, distribution, and generation at customer facilities.
• Read and interpret manuals, schematics, and write diagrams to troubleshoot and solve equipment problems.
• Troubleshoot, repair, replace, and clean all components in a substation.
• Lead tasks such as Transformer Testing, Cable Testing, Circuit Breaker Testing, and testing of electrical-mechanical and solid-state relays.
• Participate in the installation, maintenance, and repair of electrical equipment.
• Plan, participate, and develop safety meetings and training.
• Support management in the planning, scheduling, execution, and cost management of field projects.

Requirements

• Familiarity with industry standards such as NETA, NFPA 70E, OSHA compliance standards, safety laws, and DOT regulations.
• Ability to diagnose complex mechanical and electrical problems.
• Strong communication and problem-solving skills.
• Proficiency in PC skills including email, internet, data entry, and Microsoft Office.
• Ability to multitask, prioritize, and work well under pressure.
• Ability to work independently with excellent judgment.
• Willingness to relocate within 60 miles of the hiring regional office.
• Ability to work overtime, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
• Willingness to travel for overnight, multi-day, out-of-town projects.
• Ability to lift and maneuver at least 50 lbs.
• Valid driver’s license and willingness to obtain endorsement for operating a combined vehicle weight up to 26k lbs.
• Ability to pass pre-employment criminal background check, motor vehicle check, drug and alcohol test, and periodic random testing.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Bachelor’s or Associate’s Degree in Electrical/Electronic Technology or Military experience preferred.
• At least 10 years of experience in electrical substation testing, construction, maintenance, troubleshooting, assembly, and commissioning.
• Ability to achieve NETA level III or IV within 6 months of employment.
• Project management experience.

Work Environment

• Work in close proximity to live electrical substations.
• Corporate business hours are Monday-Friday, 7:30am-4:30pm, with additional hours as needed.
• Rotate emergency on-call duty and respond to customer emergencies.

Other Requirements

• Willingness to obtain company-paid TWIC card, OSHA 10/30 hour, MSHA, NFPA 70E, and CPR training.
