About the role
This position is responsible for performing complex electrical apparatus work onsite at customer facilities, including electrical testing, preventative maintenance, commissioning, upgrades, and repairs to electrical apparatus. The role involves troubleshooting, training, establishing Lockout/Tagout procedures, interacting with customers, and report writing.
Responsibilities
- Execute mechanical and electrical tasks on equipment utilized in power transmission, distribution, and generation at customer facilities.
- Read and interpret manuals, schematics, and write diagrams to troubleshoot and solve equipment problems.
- Troubleshoot, repair, replace, and clean all components in a substation.
- Lead tasks such as Transformer Testing, Cable Testing, Circuit Breaker Testing, and Test both electrical-mechanical and solid-state relays.
- Participate in the installation, maintenance, and repair of electrical equipment.
- Plan, participate, and develop safety meetings and training.
- Support management in the planning, scheduling, execution, and cost management of field projects.
Requirements
- Familiar with industry standards such as NETA, NFPA 70E, OSHA compliance standards, safety laws, and DOT regulations.
- Extensive knowledge and ability to diagnose complex mechanical and electrical problems.
- Strong communication and problem-solving skills.
- Strong PC skills including email, internet, data entry, and Microsoft Office.
- Ability to multitask, prioritize, and work well under pressure to meet goals and deadlines.
- Ability to work independently, while utilizing excellent judgement.
- Doble DTAF and Power DB knowledge is preferred, training will be provided.
- Demonstrated ability to be consistently on time for daily work assignments, meetings, training, etc.
- Organizational skills to include on time reporting of time and expenses, weekly status reports, and any other documentation and reporting requirements.
- Responsible for keeping tools, test equipment, and vehicles in clean and organized condition and up to date with service and calibrations.
Qualifications
- Requires a High School Diploma or GED.
- Bachelor’s or Associates Degree in Electrical/Electronic Technology, or Military experience is preferred but not required.
- At least 10 years of experience in electrical substation testing, construction, maintenance, troubleshooting, assembly, and commissioning required.
- Ability to achieve NETA level III or IV within 6 months of employment.
- Project management experience and be able to support management in the planning, scheduling, execution and cost management of field projects.

Schedule
Corporate business hours are Monday-Friday, 7:30am-4:30pm, but depending on the scope of works hours outside of business hours will be required. Must be willing to relocate within 60 miles of the hiring regional office.
