About the role

Frontier-Kemper-Tutor Perini joint venture is seeking a Senior Field Engineer to join our Manhattan Tunnel Project in New York, New York. The project is part of the Hudson Tunnel Project (HTP), a $1.18 billion design-build contract awarded by the Gateway Development Commission. The HTP aims to enhance rail resiliency by adding two new tracks between New York and New Jersey and rehabilitating the storm-damaged North River Tunnel. The project includes designing and constructing twin 30-foot diameter, 700-foot-long tunnels under the Hudson River, connecting to existing tunnels beneath Hudson Yards, and an access shaft at 12th Avenue, later serving as a ventilation facility.

Responsibilities

• Review project plans and develop a construction schedule in coordination with project-wide activities.
• Coordinate with subcontractors on advanced material acquisitions and pre-construction deliverables.
• Develop and assist with obtaining quotes and draft contracts to meet project requirements.
• Prepare construction work plan packages and coordinate pre-construction meetings while ensuring that all prerequisites to start construction activities are identified and completed.
• Prepare, update, and distribute work activity schedules/updates, and communicate across discipline groups and agencies to ensure proper advance notifications and coordination of start times.
• Monitor and participate daily in the field construction process. Provide layout checks and technical reviews of work against requirements. Obtain confirmations from the design engineer as needed.
• Assist with subcontract administration and permanent material suppliers through monitoring of correspondence, submittals, RFIs, and performance records; maintain accurate payment records.
• Assist in preparing monthly reporting for progress payments, schedule updates, and problem/issue tracking and resolution. Provide accurate and factual assessments of project performance.
• Participate in change orders and claims management.
• Identify and resolve changing site conditions or other impacts during planning of the work.
• Develop quality checks and coordinate permits from appropriate entities.
• Manage and submit project close-out in coordination with the client and third parties.

Requirements

• Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering or Construction Management or similar, from an accredited institution.
• 5 or more years of civil construction experience.
• Experience on large heavy civil infrastructure projects in dense urban settings with public sector clients is a plus.
• Knowledge of construction safety and current federal & OSHA requirements.
• Project controls techniques (e.g., cost accounting, basic estimating, forecasting, and contracts).
• A strong working knowledge of the critical path method and resource scheduling.
• Working knowledge and experience with Microsoft Office and Primavera P6.
• Strong organizational and time management skills.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Good attention to detail, with the ability to recognize discrepancies.
• Strong work ethic - highly motivated and willing to do what it takes to get the job done right.
• The ability to work independently as well as part of a team.

Pay

Expected salary range for this position is $120,000 – $170,000 depending upon experience.
