About the role
We are seeking a Senior Feature Owner to lead the development and delivery of next-generation L2++, L3, and L4 Autonomous Driving features within the ADAS/AD team. This role focuses on highway and urban driving autonomy, including hands-off/eyes-off driving capabilities, supervised and unsupervised automated driving, and advanced driver monitoring integration.
Responsibilities
- Conceptualize, prototype, and launch cutting-edge L2++/L3/L4 driving features, including but not limited to: Hands-off highway driving with driver monitoring system (DMS) supervision Automated lane changes and highway merge/exit maneuvers Urban automated driving (intersections, traffic signals, roundabouts) Conditional automation (L3) with fallback-ready transition of control (ToC) strategies Geo-fenced L4 highway pilot with minimal driver intervention Advanced longitudinal and lateral control (steering, braking, acceleration) on ODD-defined roads
- Own the end-to-end feature lifecycle from concept through production launch ensuring timely delivery of fully validated high-quality customer features
- Create and manage feature roadmaps for multiple vehicle program lines, securing buy-in from stakeholders including marketing, homologation, safety, and executive leadership
- Serve as the voice of the customer, representing L2++/L3/L4 features in all internal and external communications
- Develop comprehensive feature definitions, including use cases, operational design domains (ODD), functional requirements, and target performance KPIs
- Collaborate closely with the Functional Safety team to facilitate HARA, Safety Goal development, and SOTIF (Safety of the Intended Functionality) analysis specific to higher automation levels
- Drive feature specifications using creative ideas and lead usability studies with UX/UI design teams, focusing on seamless handoff experiences between automated and manual driving
- Partner with Tier 1 suppliers and internal teams (perception, planning, controls, mapping) to implement innovative L2++/L3/L4 solutions
- Lead competitive benchmarking to stay current with industry trends, emerging regulations, and competitor L3/L4 offerings
- Work cross-functionally with systems engineering, software, validation, and homologation teams to ensure seamless and robust feature development and delivery
- Support V&V strategy development for higher automation features, including scenario-based testing, simulation, and real-world validation approaches
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Electrical Engineering, Automotive Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Robotics, or a related field
- 3–5 years of hands-on experience in ADAS/AD feature development, with a focus on L2+ and above driving automation features
- Prominent track record of bringing ADAS/AD driving features into production (e.g., highway assist, traffic jam pilot, automated lane change, hands-off driving)
- Strong expertise in use case development, ODD definition, and requirements engineering for L2++/L3/L4 features
- Solid understanding of SAE J3016 automation levels and the functional/architectural differences between L2+, L3, and L4 systems
- Experience with automotive supplier interaction, specification development, project/release management, and change management
- Strong understanding of regulations and standards relevant to higher automation: Regulations: FMVSS, GSR, ECE R79, ECE R157, DCAS-R171 Standards: ISO 26262, ISO/PAS 21448 (SOTIF), ASPICE, ISO 34502/34503
- Proficiency with requirements management tools (JAMA, DOORS, etc.)
- Proficiency with agile development tools such as JIRA
- Excellent communication skills and ability to present complex automation concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences
Preferred Qualifications
- Master’s degree in systems engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Robotics, or a related field
- Previous experience as a Feature Owner or Product Owner for L2+/L3/L4 driving functions at an OEM or Tier 1 supplier
- Experience with driver monitoring systems (DMS) and their integration with hands-off/eyes-off driving modes
- Familiarity with scenario-based testing frameworks, simulation tools (e.g., dSPACE, CarMaker, CARLA), and SiL/HiL validation for AD features
- Knowledge of perception sensor suites (camera, radar, LiDAR, ultrasonics) and sensor fusion architectures relevant to L3/L4
