About the role

A global nonprofit that provides trusted biological materials for science and health, ATCC is hiring a Senior Facility Technician to oversee maintenance and repair of facilities, systems, and equipment, ensuring efficient operation of electrical, plumbing, mechanical, HVAC, and environmental systems. This onsite role in Manassas, VA supports ongoing facilities operations, preventive maintenance, repairs, work orders, projects, equipment installations, and vendor coordination in a facilities operations environment.

Responsibilities

  • Facilities Maintenance and Repairs: Perform preventive updates and repairs involving carpentry, electrical, plumbing, painting, mechanical, HVAC, and environmental systems.
  • Work Order Management: Receive, prioritize, and fulfill work orders, complete advanced repairs, and conduct regular inspections to identify needed repairs.
  • Equipment and Fixture Support: Install, relocate, and manage inventory for fixtures, lab equipment, and repository items.
  • Vendor and Technical Coordination: Coordinate external technicians and assist with reviewing schedules, layouts, designs, and practical facilities solutions.
  • Maintenance Scheduling and SOP Updates: Schedule maintenance to minimize disruptions and update Standard Operating Procedures regularly.
  • Compliance, Safety, and Documentation: Maintain ethical and safety standards, record entries in Facility, Document, and Records Management systems, follow equipment validation and qualification protocols, and perform on-call duties as needed.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma and 5+ years’ experience or equivalent (Minimum Requirement).
  • Hands-on experience with equipment installation, relocation, maintenance, and advanced facilities repairs.
  • Experience with electrical systems, including power distribution, generators, switchgear, lighting, plumbing, water systems, carpentry, painting, and equipment installations.
  • Knowledge of mechanical, HVAC, environmental systems, preventive maintenance, inspections, and work order execution.
  • Ability to accurately document work in Facility, Document, and Records Management systems and follow equipment validation and qualification protocols.
  • Effective communication skills and ability to adapt to changing priorities.

Benefits

The expected salary range for this position is $70,000 to $75,000 annually. Actual compensation will be determined based on experience and qualifications as well as internal equity and alignment with market data. In addition to base salary, this role may be eligible for additional incentive compensation including regular merit increases and the corporate bonus program.
