About the role
This position involves diagnosing and developing repair/restoration solutions for the built environment. The projects range from property condition assessments to detailed evaluations of structural systems, roofs, facades, plaza deck and below grade waterproofing systems, MEP systems, pavements, industrial floors, and construction materials. Techniques used include visual examination, non-destructive testing, instrumentation and load testing, laboratory testing, and destructive examinations. Deliverables include reports of findings and recommendations, restoration design documents, and construction oversight/administration.
Responsibilities
- Manages, leads or consults on large, complex or unique projects.
- Analyzes all technical aspects of subject area, defines scope, selects problems for investigation, develops novel concepts and approaches, and recommends solutions.
- Develops marketing strategies and presents qualifications to clients on various projects in area of expertise.
- Sells consulting services to potential clients and provides leadership, technical direction/expertise, and training to all staff under direction while performing on client projects.
- Holds leadership roles in national/international professional organizations, authors technical papers, and delivers presentations.
- Maintains safety standards on all projects and reports any safety issues or concerns to management.
- Maintains quality standards on all projects.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in building science or related building field and 10+ years’ experience in facility assessment. Alternatively, a minimum of 14 years’ related experience.
- Master’s degree preferred.
- Valid driver’s license with acceptable violation history.
- At least one additional relevant certification (RBEC, BECxP, LEED AP).
Qualifications
- Knowledge of facility systems from curb to rooftop.
- Experience working with licensed architects and engineers on new construction and existing facilities.
- Experience in building enclosure consulting and testing, facility asset management, due diligence, ADA and accessibility consulting, facility condition assessments, and similar services.
- Ability to create sustainable options for clients' buildings, assess and extend service life, increase performance, and maximize the value of capital expenditures.
