About the role

The Facilities Campus Planning Department at the University of North Texas is seeking a Senior Facilities Planning Manager to lead the Education and General Planning team. This role is the backbone of campus transformation, serving the mission and values of UNT while stewarding a unique and impactful sense of place. The team fosters community engagement, aligns projects with UNT's standards, and champions accessibility compliance, encompassing everything from cost estimates to construction management.

Responsibilities

• Supervise direct reports and manage the Campus Planning department, including maintenance, renovation, and Capital Improvement Projects (CIP).
• Prepare, monitor, and account for budgets and schedules for all assigned projects, with budgets up to $5 million.
• Develop and oversee conformance with departmental construction project procedures and campus-wide procurement protocols.
• Serve as technical advisor for constructability and architectural design for the department.
• Ensure compliance with state statutory and university mandates, laws, construction codes, and UNT design standards.
• Oversee programming, design, furniture, and construction implementation efforts for Education and General operations.
• Coordinate with campus and facilities technical personnel to address design and construction issues, ensuring appropriate service levels for the campus community.
• Set goals and objectives for the design department; recruit, supervise, and manage project-related staff.
• Prepare reports for internal and external requirements and manage long-range strategic planning initiatives.
• Organize and develop internal standard operating procedures and processes.
• Conduct special studies for evaluation of existing buildings and systems.
• Identify, allocate, and monitor funding sources and budgets for projects, including long-term budgetary planning.
• Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Architecture, Engineering, or Interior Design, and ten years of progressively responsible professional experience; or any equivalent combination of experience, education, and training.
• Possession of a valid Texas driver’s license or ability to obtain within 30 days of employment; ability to drive a vehicle and maintain coverage under University liability insurance policy, if required.
• Physical ability to access work areas which may be in confined spaces or elevated heights.
• Knowledge of appropriate building codes, safety, and security precautions.
• Demonstrated proficiency in design and construction processes, including knowledge of construction methods and building systems.
• Strong supervisory and management experience.
• Ability to use Microsoft Office suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) and familiarity with AutoCAD and other technical drawing programs.

Preferred Qualifications

• Project Management experience working for a Texas state or public agency, especially in Higher Education institutions.
• Licensed Architect in the state of Texas.
• APPA CEFP credential or ability to obtain within 18 months of hire.
• Proficiency with AutoCAD, SketchUp, Revit, and other technical drawing software.
• Experience with project budgeting and estimating using Microsoft Excel.
• OSHA-10 certification for safety.

Friday: 7:30 AM - 2:30 PM
