About the role
Help design and launch the critical HVAC infrastructure for a major new advanced-manufacturing facility. This position offers the opportunity to guide complex systems from design and construction through commissioning, start-up, and full-scale factory operations.
Responsibilities
- Support the design, installation, commissioning, and operation of cleanroom, exhaust, abatement, and office HVAC systems.
- Collaborate with design consultants, contractors, vendors, operations teams, and maintenance personnel.
- Review engineering drawings, specifications, equipment submittals, tool-exhaust designs, and construction progress.
- Support equipment preparation, operational testing, system turnover, and technical handover documentation.
- Troubleshoot construction and start-up issues and resolve system abnormalities.
- Provide engineering support for recirculation units, make-up air systems, exhaust systems, acid scrubbers, RCTO solvent-abatement systems, AHUs, and VAV systems.
- Respond to cleanroom HVAC OCAP conditions involving temperature, humidity, particle levels, and exhaust pressure.
- Monitor performance through inspections, trend analysis, capacity planning, and technical reporting.
- Apply FMEA, root-cause analysis, and reliability-engineering principles to improve system performance.
- Identify and implement upgrades that improve reliability, energy efficiency, safety, and production capacity.
- Support capital projects, expense projects, system modifications, and equipment hook-ups.
- Maintain accurate operating, maintenance, and commissioning procedures.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline.
- Five or more years of HVAC engineering experience covering design and operations.
- Strong knowledge of HVAC systems, exhaust systems, controls, chilled-water systems, cooling towers, and cleanroom standards.
- Ability to interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and construction documents.
- Proficiency with AutoCAD, Revit, Bluebeam, and Microsoft Office.
- Semiconductor, high-tech manufacturing, pharmaceutical, data-center, or industrial-facility experience preferred.
- Design, construction, commissioning, and start-up experience strongly preferred.
- Professional Engineer license is a plus.
The role will initially support Tempe and Peoria construction activities before transitioning to Peoria for factory operations.
