About the role

The Senior Facilities Generalist is responsible for maintaining the appearance, functionality, and structural integrity of facility buildings and grounds. This position performs and coordinates building repairs, renovations, preventive maintenance, and contractor activities to ensure a safe, professional, and efficient work environment.

Responsibilities

  • Perform and coordinate repairs to walls, ceilings, doors, flooring, windows, and other building components.
  • Patch, repair, finish, and paint drywall surfaces.
  • Repair and replace ceiling tiles and suspended ceiling grid systems.
  • Perform flooring repairs including carpet tile replacement, vinyl flooring repairs, transitions, and minor floor restoration work.
  • Conduct routine building inspections to identify maintenance needs and deficiencies.
  • Replace light bulbs, ballasts, fixtures, and other non-complex lighting components.
  • Perform minor carpentry work including installation and repair of shelving, cabinets, doors, trim, and hardware.
  • Support office, laboratory, warehouse, and production area renovations.
  • Cover room modifications, furniture installations, wall relocations, and space improvements.
  • Afford assistance with planning and execution of small capital improvement projects.
  • Ensure work is completed safely, efficiently, and in accordance with facility standards.
  • Coordinate and oversee contractors performing building maintenance and renovation work.
  • Review contractor work for quality, safety, and compliance with site requirements.
  • Afford assistance with obtaining quotes, scheduling work, and managing project timelines.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for contractors while on-site.
  • Respond to facility work orders related to building maintenance and repairs.
  • Prioritize and complete assigned work in a timely manner.
  • Maintain accurate records within the CMMS system.
  • Develop and execute preventive maintenance programs for building assets and finishes.
  • Support Facilities and Engineering teams during shutdowns, moves, special projects, and emergencies.
  • Afford assistance with basic troubleshooting of building systems and coordinate specialized support when necessary.
  • Participate in facility inspections, audits, and safety initiatives.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Technical school, trade certification, or related education preferred.
  • Minimum 5–7 years of experience in commercial, industrial, healthcare, pharmaceutical, or institutional building maintenance.
  • Demonstrated experience in painting, drywall finishing, flooring repairs, ceiling systems, carpentry, and general construction trades.
  • Experience coordinating contractors and renovation projects preferred.
  • Proficient in: Painting and wall finishing, Drywall installation and repair, Ceiling tile and grid systems, Flooring repair and replacement, Basic carpentry, Concrete patching and repairs, Lighting maintenance, Work order management systems (CMMS).
  • Preferred qualifications include trade certifications in carpentry, construction, or facilities maintenance, experience in GMP, pharmaceutical, manufacturing, healthcare, or laboratory environments.
