Key Responsibilities
- Lead engineering design and technical execution for upstream surface facilities including central tank batteries, wellsite equipment, compression, dehydration, vapor recovery units (VRUs), measurement skids, pipelines and saltwater disposal systems.
- Develop process flow diagrams, P&IDs, equipment datasheets, material takeoffs, cost estimates and construction support documentation for facilities projects.
- Perform process modeling and simulation using HYSYS, ProMax and Pipeflow to size equipment, validate operating cases and optimize production and utility systems.
- Ensure designs meet applicable industry codes and standards (ASME, API, NFPA) and client, safety and environmental requirements.
- Manage vendor evaluation and equipment selection for pressure vessels, tanks, separators, pumps, compressors, heaters and other rotating equipment.
- Prepare technical reports, basis of design documents, and safety reviews (HAZOP, LOPA input) to support project approvals and risk mitigation.
- Support commissioning, start-up and troubleshooting activities in the field; provide technical guidance during construction and operational handover.
- Cook up coordination with cross-functional teams including subsurface, production, pipeline, measurement and regulatory groups to align facilities design with operational objectives.
- Mentor junior engineers and provide engineering oversight, QA/QC of deliverables and continual improvement of engineering standards and tools.
- Engage with clients, operations and contractors to provide clear technical recommendations, scope definitions and scope change management throughout project lifecycle.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Chemical, Petroleum Engineering or related engineering discipline; Masters degree is a plus.
- Minimum 5+ years of facilities engineering experience in upstream oil and gas, with demonstrated experience on surface production systems and central tank batteries.
- Proven facilities engineering capability (required).
- Hands-on experience with HYSYS, ProMax and Pipeflow process simulation tools; ability to apply models to equipment sizing and process optimization.
- Strong knowledge of industry codes and standards including ASME, API and NFPA as they apply to pressure vessels, storage tanks and process piping.
- Experience with pressure vessels, tanks, pumps, compressors, dehydration and vapor recovery systems and corrosion/chemical handling considerations.
- Familiarity with measurement systems, pipelines and saltwater disposal system design and operation.
- Experience working in the Permian Basin or similar onshore U.S. basins and knowledge of upstream regulatory, permitting and operational practices is preferred.
- Demonstrated ability to prepare engineering deliverables (P&IDs, datasheets, material takeoffs), support procurement and oversee construction/commissioning.
- Professional Engineer (PE) license or ability to obtain licensure is preferred.
- Excellent communication, project management and stakeholder engagement skills; ability to work in both office and field environments and travel as required.
