Safety
Safety: Be an advocate for safety and lead by example. Incorporate safety into designs, construction and M&O activities. Ensure that safe practices and procedures are communicated, incorporated and followed in all activities.
Position duties
- Serves as the asset owner for gas transmission facilities, providing guidance, mentoring, and technical support to field personnel and engineers.
- Improves maintenance practices, assesses equipment condition, ensures safety and compliance, and/or oversees engineering studies needed to maintain or enhance safety and reliability.
- Aids and collaborates with field personnel to investigate, diagnose, troubleshoot, and resolve equipment or system problems related to performance, operating and/or safety problems and recommends repairs.
- Performs inspection/investigation/failure analysis, calculations, engineering design and/or review of repairs or modifications, recommends equipment that is not replacement in kind, recommends tests or engineering studies, and provides engineering for small projects.
- Supports equipment and facility outages, including outage planning, outage scope definition, and support during outages, such as unit overhauls, inspections, and commissioning.
- Prepares long-range forecasts for expense work and capital investments, works with field personnel to identify highest priority work, develops budgetary estimates, and projects scopes for budget submittals.
- Works closely with project managers and project engineers to ensure that the facilities will meet appropriate requirements, provides engineering review and input on conceptual designs, design reviews, calculations, and engineering and construction documents.
- Interfaces with contractors, engineering, and field personnel to facilitate resolving technical issues.
- Leads PG&E effort during start-up and commissioning.
- Supports M&O field personnel to achieve full compliance with pipeline safety codes and regulations, reviews designs and provides technical guidance for code interpretation and compliance.
- Implements department code compliance initiatives that require engineering support, solves complex problems by developing and utilizing new and innovative engineering design and technical solutions.
- Expands knowledge in other areas of specialty or discipline, developing breadth or further develops expertise and specialization on one area.
- Evaluates methodologies, best practices, tools, processes, procedures and technology assessing potential fit, benefits, and impacts for assigned workstreams.
- Presents engineering research, findings, solutions and recommendations to Leadership.
- Applies knowledge of concepts, principles, and practices in a specific discipline, completes assignments of broad scope and complexity with few precedents or standards and assignments that require integration of information from a variety of sources.
- Takes ownership of problems and their solutions.
- Stand on-call for transmission pipeline or station incidents during off-hours.
Qualifications
- BS Engineering or equivalent experience, five (5) years of relevant experience.
- Oil or Gas Transmission experience, design, maintenance, construction and/or operations.
- Natural Gas Compressor Station Experience.
- Reciprocating & Centrifugal Compressor and Generator Experience.
- EIT-Engineer in Training certification or Professional Engineer (PE) license.
- Knowledge of applicable engineering principles, codes, regulations, policies and procedures related to the industry and PG&E.
- Ability to troubleshoot, evaluate and report on outcomes.
