About the role

The Senior Facilities Engineer works out of Abbott's Westfield, IN location within the Structural Heart division. This role supports the mission of restoring health and improving quality of life by providing device and management solutions for structural heart disease.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct feasibility studies as directed for projects.
  • Write RCE's and implement projects.
  • Investigate state-of-the-art equipment for energy conservation.
  • Write specifications and call for bids for best pricing and installation.
  • Write RCE for projects and coordinate with Accounting for DCF and post completion audits.
  • Select vendor/contractor to do the job after detailed contractor evaluation.
  • Cook up with vendor/contractor and the Facilities Shop for requirements, planning, and installation of project through completion, based on manufacturing schedule and least process downtime.
  • Work closely with all functional managers and operating department managers across the site.
  • Communicate operating conditions and environmental specifications required for GMP clearly and understandably to all concerned.
  • Interact with different functional groups/trades in the Facilities Shop to communicate the scope of the work and to arrive at the correct budget and precise schedule for proper interaction and precise execution of the different functional groups.
  • Interact at the Corporate level with all the Corporate Engineering departments.
  • Communicate effectively with outside engineering consultants, vendors, and contractors.
  • Coordinate all engineering projects with consultants and vendors for proper costing and scheduling.
  • Collaborate with all levels from supervisory to non-exempt personnel for project planning and implementation.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree (± 16 years) in Electrical, Electronics, or Mechanical Engineering or a closely related discipline.
  • Minimum of 5 years of plant engineering experience.
  • In-depth knowledge of HVAC equipment and its operation.
  • Good working knowledge of power termination, distribution, and back-up generation equipment.
  • Overall knowledge of electrical systems.
  • Analytical skills to determine site electrical rate structure and negotiate the best deal for Abbott.
  • Negotiating skills to deal with contractors and consultants.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Strong technical knowledge of facilities operations, including HVAC systems and general facility equipment.
  • Experience managing facilities-related projects (e.g., infrastructure upgrades, site improvements).
  • Proven project management skills, including : timeline management, budget ownership and tracking, and resource planning and coordination.
  • Experience managing and coordinating multiple external vendors.

Pay

The base pay for this position is $78,000.00 – $156,000.00. In specific locations, the pay range may vary from the range posted.
