About the role
The Government Training Engineering (GTE) F/A-18 Air Dominance Team is seeking a Senior Training Systems Project Engineer to serve as the F/A-18 Training Systems Office of the Chief Engineer in Berkeley, MO. The selected individual will be the primary technical point of contact for both external and internal customer interface and coordination activities to ensure program expectations are met.
The F/A-18 Training Systems Project Engineer will interact with United States Navy (USN) Program Office and Pilot Training Instructors, shaping the future performance of F/A-18 pilot training programs. The F/A-18 Office of the Chief Engineer Team is responsible for the proposal, development, integration, delivery, and sustainment of products directly employed in F/A-18 operator training, including:
- Tactical Operational Flight Trainers (TOFT)
- Low-Cost Trainer (LCT)
The role oversees technical excellence for all development, integration, delivery, and sustainment activities for TOFT and LCTs at the main operating bases for the F/A-18. Responsibilities include proposal development, project management, system requirements definition, and technical leadership to guide the team toward remarkable solutions. Collaboration with engineering and program teams ensures Trainer capability exceeds the training needs of the F/A-18 Warfighter.
Responsibilities
- Creates and manages a prioritized backlog of tasks for agile engineering teams
- Researches, analyzes, and compiles complex technical data for company products and system-level concepts in projected operational environments to optimize effectiveness over the program lifecycle
- Applies complex systems engineering processes, methodologies, and tools to the design of system of systems, systems, and new product development
- Derives and develops complex architectures, functional requirements, refinements, and product designs
- Assists in the integration of technical, cost, value, risks, and specialty engineering considerations into definition of the product
- Interfaces with project or program teams, management, sales and marketing staff, customers, and suppliers to meet group, organization, and company objectives
- Develops and revises Statements of Work and Supplier Statements of Work
- Performs technical planning and control; maintains and improves processes and software tools
- Participates in Scaled Agile Framework planning and execution
- Oversees training, leads, and mentors others
Requirements
- Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering, Engineering Technology (including Manufacturing Technology), Computer Science, Data Science, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, or non-U.S. equivalent qualifications directly related to the work statement
- 5+ years’ experience with data analytics or computer technology
- 1+ year experience managing projects with Earned Value Management reporting requirements
Qualifications
Preferred:
- 7+ years’ related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience
- Master’s degree
- Active Security Clearance
- EVM certified to be a Control Account Manager
- 1+ year experience on one or more F/A-18, F-15, MQ-25 aircraft programs
- 1+ year experience with Jira project management software
- 3+ years project management experience
- 5+ years’ experience with Lean process improvement projects and principles
- Experience performing root cause analysis to identify corrective actions
- Experience developing or reviewing Statements of Work
- Experience developing Basis of Estimates for contract proposals
This position must meet U.S. export control compliance requirements. A “U.S. Person” as defined by 22 C.F.R. § 120.62 is required (includes U.S. Citizen, U.S. National, lawful permanent resident, refugee, or asylee).

Pay
Pay is based upon candidate experience and qualifications, as well as market and business considerations.
Summary Pay Range: $136,850 - $185,150
Schedule
This position is for 1st shift.
This position offers relocation based on candidate eligibility and requires the ability to obtain a U.S. Security Clearance (U.S. citizenship required). An interim and/or final U.S. Secret Clearance post-start is required. Employer will not sponsor applicants for employment visa status.
