About the role

An Experience Designer crafts immersive and engaging experiences that connect people with environments, events, and interactions, focusing on how these experiences feel and unfold over time. This role involves understanding the needs and emotions of participants through research and testing and collaborating with various stakeholders to bring these experiences to life.

Responsibilities

  • Understand the needs and emotions of participants through research and testing
  • Collaborate with various stakeholders to bring experiences to life
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with clients, acting as a trusted design advisor throughout the project lifecycle
  • Guide design teams in the creation of high-quality visual and interactive designs, ensuring the final product meets business and user needs
  • Partner with technical teams, balancing creative ideas with technical feasibility, ensuring designs are practical and scalable
  • Take ownership of the design process, from discovery and ideation to prototyping and user testing, ensuring consistent delivery of impactful designs
  • Support complex projects that leverage AI to create innovative, user-centered experiences, setting standards for human/AI interaction design and process adoption across teams
  • Advise clients and teams on the strategic use of AI in design, balancing innovation with usability and ethics, and foster a culture of experimentation with AI while ensuring human agency remains central
  • Actively share your knowledge of AI in design with others as part of your leadership, empowering your team to grow their proficiency, while continuing to develop your own expertise

Requirements

  • Human-Centered Design: Deep understanding of human-centered design methods and mindset
  • Co-Creation: Excel at aligning stakeholders through workshops and collaborative sessions
  • Storytelling: Communicate clearly and compellingly
  • User Research: Design and conduct generative and evaluative user research
  • Prototyping: Create context-appropriate, low-to-high fidelity prototypes
  • Visual Communication: Expertise in information design
  • AI and Data Ethics: Leverage AI tools while maintaining quality and ethical standards

Preferred Professional and Technical Expertise

  • 8+ years experience
  • Deep industry vertical experience
  • Experience in both enterprise and agency worlds
  • Knowledge and experience in IT infrastructure or other technical applications
  • Human behavior, change management, or other applied social sciences
  • Data science, AI/ML background

Education

  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent portfolio
  • MDM, MDes, MFA, dMBA, or equivalent

Pay and Benefits

The compensation range for the position in the U.S. is $115,080 to $218,520 based on a full-time schedule. Your actual compensation may vary depending on your geography, job-related skills and experience. For part time roles, the compensation will be adjusted appropriately. The pay or salary range will not be below any applicable state, city or local minimum wage requirement. There is a different applicable compensation range for the following work locations: California (San Francisco Bay Area): $138,120 to $262,320; California (All Other): $126,600 to $240,480; Colorado: $115,080 to $218,520; Massachusetts: $115,080 to $240,480; New York City: $138,120 to $262,320; Washington: $126,600 to $240,480; Washington DC: $126,600 to $240,480. This position will be eligible for Kyndryl’s discretionary annual bonus program, based on performance and subject to the terms of Kyndryl’s applicable plans.
