About the role
The Department of Public Safety - Driver Licensing is seeking a Senior Examiner to manage Driver License Examination Stations. This is a full-time position with 40 hours a week, potentially rotating to 5-day weeks based on need. The position requires lifting and carrying up to 60 lbs and involves traveling to satellite locations.
Responsibilities
- Maintains station operations and inspects equipment.
- Provides guidance and direction to Driver License Examiners.
- Determines handling of difficult situations and customer interactions.
- Directs examiners during equipment malfunctions and processes license requests.
- Audits completed applications and balances fees.
- Maintains licensing and equipment, and makes bank deposits.
- Travels to satellite stations to support absent senior examiners.
- Assesses Driver License Examiners' performance and training needs.
Requirements
- High school diploma.
- Knowledge of South Dakota driver's manual requirements and motor vehicle operation.
- Computer skills.
- Ability to operate a motor vehicle.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to multi-task and maintain focus.
- Objective grading of driving ability.
- Uniformed and standardized duty execution.
- Operational proficiency with computers, cameras, printers, and license processing equipment.
Qualifications
- High school diploma.
