Senior Examiner

About the role

The Department of Public Safety - Driver Licensing is seeking a Senior Examiner to manage Driver License Examination Stations. This is a full-time position with 40 hours a week, potentially rotating to 5-day weeks based on need. The position requires lifting and carrying up to 60 lbs and involves traveling to satellite locations.

Responsibilities

• Maintains station operations and inspects equipment.
• Provides guidance and direction to Driver License Examiners.
• Determines handling of difficult situations and customer interactions.
• Directs examiners during equipment malfunctions and processes license requests.
• Audits completed applications and balances fees.
• Maintains licensing and equipment, and makes bank deposits.
• Travels to satellite stations to support absent senior examiners.
• Assesses Driver License Examiners' performance and training needs.

Requirements

• High school diploma.
• Knowledge of South Dakota driver's manual requirements and motor vehicle operation.
• Computer skills.
• Ability to operate a motor vehicle.
• Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to multi-task and maintain focus.
• Objective grading of driving ability.
• Uniformed and standardized duty execution.
• Operational proficiency with computers, cameras, printers, and license processing equipment.

Qualifications
