A bit about us: We are an established general contractor that has been servicing the Chicagoland area for decades. We specialize in a wide array of contracting services. Responsibilities
- Prepare detailed cost estimates for civil construction and utility projects, including labor, materials, equipment, and other project-related costs.
- Review project plans and specifications to determine the scope of work and required contents of the estimate.
- Conduct site visits and gather all necessary data to aid in estimate preparation.
- Work closely with project managers, engineers, and clients to understand project requirements and develop accurate cost estimates.
- Evaluate subcontractor and supplier quotes to ensure they meet project specifications and budget.
- Participate in the negotiation and awarding of contracts.
- Maintain a comprehensive cost estimating database for future reference and cost analysis.
- Provide regular updates and reports to management regarding cost estimation and project financial status.
- Stay updated with the latest trends, advancements, and best practices in the construction industry.
Qualifications
- A minimum of 3 years of experience as an Estimator in the civil construction and utilities sector.
- Proven experience with electrical infrastructure, telecommunications construction, lighting improvements, and industrial projects.
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field.
- Strong understanding of construction processes, materials, and legal requirements.
- Exceptional numerical skills and the ability to create detailed and accurate cost estimates.
- Proficient in cost estimating software and other relevant computer applications.
- Excellent communication and negotiation skills.
- Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
- Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Professional certification in cost estimation or project management will be an added advantage.
