Senior Estimator - Mission Critical

Job Summary

Big-D Mission Critical is seeking a dynamic Senior Estimator to join their growing team in Salt Lake City, UT. The ideal candidate will bring a strong background in construction management and experience with data center/Mission Critical projects.

Responsibilities

• Defines work scope and selects subcontractors in collaboration with the Preconstruction Manager
• Develops important relationships with subcontractors and considers these relationships when making decisions
• Proficient in quantity takeoffs
• Organizes and assembles estimates in Timberline
• Successfully completes hard bidding projects, organizes scopes of work in bid day programs
• Becomes proficient in conceptual estimating through the CM Process (Program, Schematic, DD, CD, etc)
• Understands and applies CPM Scheduling to construct budgets
• Communicates with subcontractors about scheduling expectations
• Understands means and methods of construction, including labor productivity rates and unit costs of materials
• Works with Sr. Estimator on design build projects, including conceptual estimating and managing budgets
• Understands and participates in the Value Engineering (VE) process, attending working sessions
• Develops interest in projects and understands the turnover process, conveying project information comprehensively
• Participates in forecast meetings and tracks budget versus actual costs during construction
• Learns financial risk management with subcontractor bids
• Supports Big-D’s mission and values, as well as all policies and procedures

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in construction management, engineering, or a related field
• 5+ years of experience as an estimator in the construction industry, specifically on data center/Mission Critical projects
• Construction field experience preferred
• Knowledge of the subcontractor network in the Utah market preferred
