Senior Estimator (manager level, Solar)

This position will lead large conceptual EPC bids where experience is vital in developing accurate estimates. Senior Estimators report to the Director of Estimating and will be responsible for all aspects of RFP requirements, winning proposal strategies, alternate contracting strategies, and risk management on large projects.

This is an onsite role located in one of our four office locations: Fargo, ND; Indianapolis, IN; Clinton, IN; or Phoenix, AZ.

Responsibilities

  • Perform complete conceptual estimates for large, complex EPC projects from receipt of bid package through final bid review, including site visits, scope determination, material takeoff, inputting data into computerized estimating systems, and addressing questions to the Owner/Engineer.
  • Manage available bid time to ensure accurate and timely preparation of a complete estimate.
  • Function as a team player and create an environment that encourages collaboration.
  • Utilize experience to conceptualize portions of the estimate.
  • Organize and detail the estimate to ensure manhours are properly applied, easily understood for review, and efficiently turned over to field personnel.
  • Demonstrate advanced knowledge of all aspects of construction estimating and consistently manage bid teams for large, complex projects.
  • Train and mentor Estimator I and Estimator IIs.
  • Master technical estimating responsibilities, including lead responsibilities such as site visits, understanding RFQ requirements, questions to owner/engineer, and turnover of bid estimates to the field.
  • Master discipline-specific responsibilities, including material takeoffs, comprehension of drawings and specifications, manhour analysis, material pricing, and subcontracts.
  • May be assigned as the Lead Estimator on estimates.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • High school diploma plus related training or education equivalent to a Bachelor’s degree.
  • Minimum of 7 years of construction estimating experience.
  • Knowledge of construction techniques, estimating, and construction management.
  • Experience with various contract types including EPC, Design-Build (DB), and Joint Venture (JV).
  • Experience in contract negotiations.
  • Experience working with a variety of vendors and clients.
  • Experience leading bids on a regular basis.
  • Estimating experience within large-scale Solar Renewable Energy projects is highly desired.

Pay

$125,000 - $150,000 per year, commensurate with experience.
