We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Senior Estimator to join our team and take charge of our federal projects. This role is a key player in our construction industry operations, providing crucial cost estimates that drive our project planning and execution. The successful candidate will have a strong background in managing subcontractors and a proven track record in producing accurate and comprehensive estimates.
Responsibilities
- Preparing and coordinating full project estimates, from conceptual to detailed, for federal construction projects
- Managing subcontractors, including sourcing, negotiation, coordination and tracking performance
- Collaborating with project managers, engineers, and architects to understand the scope and requirements of each project
- Analyzing drawings, specifications, proposals, and other documentation to prepare time, cost, and labor estimates
- Evaluating and presenting cost-saving opportunities and value engineering options
- Participating in proposal presentations and client meetings
- Reviewing material and labor requirements to decide whether it is more cost-effective to produce or purchase components
- Conducting risk analysis and preparing contingency plans
- Keeping up-to-date with the latest construction methods, materials, and trends to ensure estimates are current and competitive
Qualifications
- Minimum of 5 years' experience in construction estimating, preferably with federal projects
- Proven experience in managing subcontractors
- Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or a related field
- Knowledge of construction methods, materials, regulations, and industry trends
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex plans and specifications
- Excellent negotiation and communication skills
- Proficiency in estimating software and MS Office suite
- Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines
- Detail-oriented with a high level of accuracy
- Proactive approach to problem-solving and the ability to make sound decisions
- Team player with strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work collaboratively
