About the role

As a Senior Estimator specializing in federal projects, you will play a critical role in ensuring our clients' needs are met and our projects are completed on time and within budget. This fully remote position is based out of the Minneapolis-St Paul area but open to candidates nationwide.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare and coordinate full project estimates, from conceptual to detailed, for federal construction projects.
  • Manage subcontractors, including sourcing, negotiation, coordination, and tracking performance.
  • Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and architects to understand the scope and requirements of each project.
  • Analyze drawings, specifications, proposals, and other documentation to prepare time, cost, and labor estimates.
  • Evaluate and present cost-saving opportunities and value engineering options.
  • Participate in proposal presentations and client meetings.
  • Review material and labor requirements to decide whether it is more cost-effective to produce or purchase components.
  • Conduct risk analysis and prepare contingency plans.
  • Keep up-to-date with the latest construction methods, materials, and trends to ensure estimates are current and competitive.

Requirements

  • A minimum of 5 years' experience in construction estimating, preferably with federal projects.
  • Proven experience in managing subcontractors.
  • A bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or a related field.
  • Knowledge of construction methods, materials, regulations, and industry trends.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex plans and specifications.
  • Excellent negotiation and communication skills.
  • Proficiency in estimating software and MS Office suite.
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
  • Detail-oriented with a high level of accuracy.
  • A proactive approach to problem-solving and the ability to make sound decisions.
  • A team player with strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work collaboratively.
