Responsibilities
This position is located in Topeka, KS (Headquarters), Dallas, TX (Satellite Office), Kansas City, KS (Satellite Office), or Denver, CO (Satellite Office).
- Develop detailed cost estimates for CNC projects, accounting for materials, labor, machining time, tooling, and setups for milling, turning, and multi-tasking machines.
- Prepare competitive bids and proposals that align with project specifications and quality standards.
- Read and interpret technical drawings, including GD&T, and assess quality control requirements.
- Evaluate machining practices such as material removal rates, material types, tooling, and setups.
- Work with production, engineering, quality, and procurement teams to optimize manufacturability, supplier sourcing, and identify cost-saving opportunities.
- Provide feedback to the quoting and process planning teams to improve efficiency and accuracy.
- Stay current on market trends, material costs, and evolving CNC machining technologies to ensure competitive estimates.
- Manage multiple concurrent quote requests, ensuring timely delivery of accurate estimates.
- Maintain organized records of quotes, revisions, and supporting documentation for easy reference and audit readiness.
Requirements
- Minimum 5 years experience in CNC machining estimation within a contract manufacturing environment.
- Proven ability to read and interpret technical drawings and GD&T specifications.
- Deep understanding of machining practices, including material removal rates, tooling, and setups for milling, turning, and multi-tasking CNC machines.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
- Excellent time management and organizational abilities to handle competing priorities and tight deadlines.
- Proficiency in cost estimation software and CAD/CAM tools.
