About the role
We are looking for ambitious Senior Estimators for Solar and Battery Storage Projects who can help build the energy of the future. This position requires utility-scale experience and involves periodic travel for pre-bid site visits and client meetings. You will report to the Manager of Estimating and collaborate closely with cross-functional teams including Estimators, Pursuit Managers, Business Development, Pre-Construction teams, Procurement, and external stakeholders.
Responsibilities
- Bid Phase:
- Develop competitive and accurate project budgets using self-perform and subcontract units.
- Review client RFP documents to determine scope, schedule, and design criteria.
- Perform and review detailed material takeoffs from design documents and drawings.
- Develop proposal documents for submission to customers.
- Create subcontractor bid packages, solicit pricing, and drive competitive solutions.
- Review project historical data for alignment.
- Answer subcontractor RFIs, evaluate and normalize bids, and make cost recommendations.
- Post-Award Phase:
- Support contract negotiations for client and subcontractor scopes.
- Assist Procurement in finalizing subcontractor scopes, schedules, and budgets.
- Conduct phase code reporting for project controls.
- Perform budget tracking and cost variance analysis.
- Facilitate estimate handoff and review with Operations.
- Construction Phase:
- Support the Projects team with subcontractor change orders and construction-related issues.
- Provide historical context for design decisions and vendor/subcontractor selections.
Requirements
- 3-5 years of prior estimating and cost analysis experience.
- Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Energy Economics, Energy Systems, Data Analytics, or related field.
- Electrical takeoff knowledge.
- Familiarity with solar (strongly preferred), electrical design components, and/or engineering.
- Estimating in a self-perform environment preferred.
- Experience in subcontract tendering and response evaluation a plus.
- Experience in 100 to 1,000 MWdc projects preferred.
