Essential Duties & Responsibilities
- Collect, calculate, and compile data for use in bid proposals, including labor, materials, and project timelines
- Solicit, organize, and evaluate vendor pricing for lighting, gear, generators, controls, and specialty equipment
- Request, track and evaluate all subcontractor systems pricing needed or required
- Independently prepare both routine and complex electrical estimates
- Contribute to conceptual and early stage budgets using partial designs or narratives
- Conduct thorough reviews of project specifications, drawing, and attend pre-bid meetings to determine full scope of work
- Perform detailed quantity take-offs and prepare complete estimates for all types of electrical construction projects
- Prepare and present detailed estimate breakdown to Project Managers and operational leaders
- Review final bids and proposals, ensuring internal review processes are completed with all supporting documentation for executive and branch-level review
Cost & Data Management
- Accurately and organically maintain records of drawings, estimates, correspondence, and other project documentation
- Regularly update estimate files, drawing logs, and cost data to reflect the most current project and market conditions
- Identify opportunities for cost savings and efficiency through creative redesigns and value engineering solutions
- Identify scope gaps, inconsistencies, and constructability concerns
- Continuously improve estimating workflows, systems, and processes for increased accuracy and efficiency
Team Collaboration & Mentorship
- Guide portions of the estimating effort on assigned projects by distributing tasks to team members
- Participate in bid reviews for projects
- Participate in ongoing training in National Electrical Code, commercial building and lighting systems, design/build workflows, and estimating methods
