Senior Estimator
Patriot Erectors is a full-service, AISC Certified Steel Fabricator and AISC Advanced Steel Erector. About the Role
The Structural Steel Estimator is responsible for generating cost estimates to fulfill project scope requirements using company documents and customer-provided drawings. This role requires extensive experience in steel structures and involves detailed takeoffs, vendor communication, and proposal preparation.
Responsibilities
- Perform full lump sum “takeoff” of material, labor, and vendor costs using design drawings and specifications.
- Price all materials, labor, buyout costs, and equipment costs in an Excel Takeoff Spreadsheet to build a project scope.
- Communicate with General Contractors to address questions and obtain project schedules.
- Request pricing quotes from vendors for materials and scope.
- Review project specifications to capture the full scope required for estimates.
- Provide the estimating manager with a detailed written Scope of Work and Takeoff for submission to the General Contractor.
- Prepare a detailed list of inclusions/exclusions and qualifications for written proposals.
- Work closely with the estimating manager to maintain the overall estimating department schedule.
- Track past bids and communicate with General Contractors for bid award status updates.
- Communicate progress and updates to stakeholders.
- Prepare, present, and distribute project information to project managers, internal staff, and customers.
Requirements
- High School graduate (required). Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university (preferred).
- Minimum of five years of experience in the industrial/commercial steel fabrication industry.
- Ability to read structural/architectural design drawings and identify changes.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Proficient in MS Office, with a heavy emphasis on Microsoft Excel.
- Proficient with Blue Beam and On-Screen Takeoff.
- Strong math skills.
- Knowledge of standard construction practices and procedures from award to closeout.
- Familiarity with AISC practices, rules, and regulations regarding steel construction and design.
- Ability to read, analyze, and interpret drawings.

Pay
The pay range for this role is $105,500 - $120,000 USD per year (Dripping Springs).
