About the role
The Senior Estimator will be a technical specialist formulating and developing advanced estimating concepts for mid to large scale Transmission and Substation construction projects of significant complexity with a focus on Substation estimates. This position provides direct support to the project teams in the planning and execution of the job, to include determining scope of project, subcontractor needs, unit/man-hour figures for self-performed work, and project specific needs and requirements.
Responsibilities
- Determining scope of project, subcontractor needs, unit/man-hour figures for self-performed work, and project specific needs and requirements
- Attending pre-bid meetings
- Traveling to job locations to confirm project site conditions
- Evaluating contract specifications and scope definition on bid opportunities
- Leading the effort to ensure compliance with the Henkels & McCoy established Project Management Methodology and upholds H&M safety and quality management protocols
- Reviewing project and design related documents
- Coordinating and managing pricing for multiple concurrent pricing efforts
- Assisting field personnel in developing and/or recommending change orders to scope as needed
- Collecting and analyzing project performance data for continuous improvement efforts
- Compiling and presenting project and pricing data to company stakeholders at various levels for approval
- Providing leadership in the continuous improvement of methodology and/or selection of tools, approaches and process enhancements
Requirements
- Experience in leading estimating activity for mid to large scale projects
- Advanced knowledge of construction and utility industry practices
- Proficient in reading and performing take-offs of engineered drawings
- Experienced with relevant estimating software (B2W Preferred)
- Experienced with MS Office Suite
