Senior Estimator

About the role

This position is remote with a preference of finding a candidate based in Washington, Oregon, Idaho, California, or West region.

Responsibilities

• Formulate and develop advanced estimating concepts for mid to large scale Transmission and Substation construction projects of significant complexity with a focus on Substation estimates.
• Provide direct support to project teams in planning and execution, including determining scope of project, subcontractor needs, unit/man-hour figures for self-performed work, and project specific needs and requirements.
• Understand business context, manage implications related to estimating and cost control, and assist in leading efforts to ensure compliance with established Project Management Methodology and uphold safety and quality management protocols.
• Lead every level of the estimating process including reviewing project and design related documents, attending pre-bid meetings, traveling to job locations to confirm project site conditions, and evaluating contract specifications and scope definition on bid opportunities.
• Coordinate and manage pricing for multiple concurrent pricing efforts with operations, project management, scheduling, and proposal staff.
• Assist field personnel in developing and/or recommending change orders to scope as needed.
• Collect and analyze project performance data for continuous improvement of estimating approach.
• Compile and present project and pricing data to company stakeholders at various levels for approval and finalize pricing submittals.
• Provide leadership in continuous improvement of methodology and/or selection of tools, approaches, and process enhancements using fundamentals of Project Management practices.
• Contribute related process improvements and implementation.

Qualifications

• Experience in leading estimating activity for mid to large scale projects and advanced knowledge of construction and utility industry practices.
• Proficient in reading and performing take-offs of engineered drawings.
• Experienced with relevant estimating software (B2W Preferred) and MS Office Suite.
• Highly complex problem-solving skills.
• Highly organized and able to adapt to complex schedules and changes.
• Strong communication, collaboration, and presentation skills.
• Highly adaptable to new processes and procedures.

Educational Background

• BS degree in Project Management, Construction Management, Construction Engineering, or Relevant Experience.

Years of Relevant Experience

8+ years of experience creating estimates for transmission, substation, and distribution projects.

Pay

$120,000 – $180,000 (will depend on level of experience & expertise)
